I have a Skipper 300 and I would like to run it on 20/40 meters. Will the amp tune for those bands or will I have to install an inductor coil with a band switch. (8950 tubes), My tester will not check the 8950s so I don,t know which is bad. I have a Knight tester.
I am looking into replacing the tubes in a amp that is running the 8950. 1x3.
What tube would be a drop in or something else. Maybe replacing the 4 with 2?

I was going to build an amp using a transformer from a old tube type color tv.
I just need to find what it will do. It is a big and heavy transformer. Winter time project.
I run the Yaesu 857d for my base station and my mobile. This radio has been a gold mine for me with out the big expense of a ts 2000.
