needs cleanup,tlc and touch up alignment. worked ok when i fired it up but had a little carrier. no mic. has line cord and the 8950 is good. say $75.00 plus actual shipping? can get pics tomorrow.

does the noise part sound like a modem or varying tones? agree its some sort of data most likely. i never did id some of the stuff i have heard.

i have fixed many bent elements with my arrow straightener. take your time and it will not break.arrows are a lot thinner walled and fragile than antenna elements.

follow the 2 red leads to the board and look for a big diode.see if it is shorted.if so it did its job when the amp got hooked up backwards.if ok install fuses and connect to a metered power supply.it should draw almost nothing on in standby.if it does and esp if it is rapidly climbing shut it...

+1 only 2 places anything special would be needed is plate supply (high voltage). and in the transformers which use silver/ teflon.

the receivers stink too.best mod is to leave them on the shelf at wallyworld. or give them to the kids so they can talk to their buddies 2 blocks away on a good day.

maybe they got a bad batch of bleeder resistors? if one opens you will get arcing in the associated cap till it has had enough and either shorts or blows up.
