The A-99 can do 10-11-12 meters. It can do 20 meters with a good tuner. A friend of mine runs one on 40m with a tuner. The GP-15 is a good antenna for 6m, 2m and 70cm. But if you don't plan on ever do 6m you can save a few buck by getting something else. Look at the Jetstream line for 2m/70cm...
You say that you want to use it to talk on 10 & 11 meters. Well to me out of the radios that you list only 2 would really fit the bill. The RCI's or Mag 257. The others are really just CB's even if they say 10 meters. Or like other post said get a real HF rig. A Yaesu FT-857 is the same size as...
I would order the Alinco from HRO. It's $50 cheaper and free shipping. If it were me I would rather buy one from an amateur radio shop than a CB shop. This is not an Export radio. It's a real Ham radio. And I feel you will get much better service from HRO. Dale you will not get much Ham use...
Here's more on how it came to be
President Signs CB Enforcement Bill
NEWINGTON, CT, Nov 29, 2000--President Bill Clinton has signed legislation that permits the enforcement of certain FCC Citizens Band regulations by state and local governments. Amateur Radio operators are exempt from the...
Here in MD the DOT has been checking radios in trucks for over 10 years. I use to run a RCI 2950 for years. And after a few Drivers got hit with $7,500 fines for running Export radios or Amps. That was what me get my Ham ticket. Because they would just ask if you have a License to operate that...
I tuned my Sirio 5000 from 1:7 on 26.950 to 1:8 on 28.740 with my MFJ-259. They do very well on more than 1 band. I ran Wilson 1000's and 5000's. And none of them could come close to my Sirio's.
I just want to add that I do have more than 1 of each antenna.
Look at the range on a MFJ-269...
Check to see if the repeater tone was changed. I had it happen to me. I could not open 2 repeater after using them for years. Later I found out was not my equipment. But a pl change. It can't hurt to check.
I run a Sirio 5000 w/145 mag on both of my Chrysler mini vans. They may not be as tall as your truck. But no damage to either roof after wacking many of the drive thru overheads and trees around town.
