Can any 2m/70cm antenna be tuned to GMRS 462MHz?

The only antenna that I know of which is able to tri-band over the frequencies you want is the Diamond NR-7900.

I've got a plan. This upcoming July 22-23 week-end is going to get a pass. It seems to me like the lack of DX propagation has deflated the enthusiasm for some. I say we look forward and concentrate our efforts on the July 29-30th week-end. Thoughts?

Rain, thunder and lightning these past few hours, so I had to disconnect. Today's local weather forecast isn't looking too good.

BRING 'EM (LSB 16) BACK ALIVE: It has been dead and deader down here. The only thing good for me is that I can talk miles and miles locally without any interruption. But I'm ready to hear some skip again. Is everyone up for trying again this week-end? If you are: do we stick to...

I've had the radio on LSB 16 for since about 12:30. In the last hour and a quarter I've heard one Texas station. He was talking to someone else, but that is it. The channel is dead quiet.

While CB skip propagation was dead, we were getting atmospheric ducting on GMRS UHF yesterday. A station in Ft. Myers on the Florida west coast was consistently hitting our radio club's repeater in Miami - about 120 miles to the southeast.

I've been monitoring LSB 16 since around 12:30 as I take care of other matters. It has been dead. I hailed a few times and received absolutely no response. Then again, there hasn't been anyone out there to be heard. The DX propagation has been pretty dead for several months now. We're due.

We had a couple of week-ends back in October and November where folks would go from one Dx contact to another. Funny thing happens down here with our summer pattern of daily afternoon thunderstorms. We wind up getting lots of short hop skip and make contacts in Tampa or Orlando or maybe...

I tried a few times yesterday (Sunday) afternoon and drew goose eggs. It was so quiet I went outside just to make sure my antenna wasn't damaged. At one point, two stations could barely be heard way in the background. LSB 38 wasn't much better. The lack of Dx propagation these last few...

    Question on FRS versus GMRS....

Nor is there free use to all UHF and VHF repeaters. GMRS utilizes strictly GMRS repeaters with the user typically needing the consent of the repeater owner to use it. Some GMRS repeaters are open. Others are private. Some are free. Some require you to pay to use them. Different radio...

For about the last month, the skip my way has been strong along very specific arcs only. It hasn't been the domestic North America free-for-all type we used to hear on LSB 38 all the time. Instead, I'll have low noise floors with areas much farther away - like California, Washington state...

    Question on FRS versus GMRS....

GMRS brings something different to the party. It has developed quite a loyal following. The way folks operate on their reminds me a lot of CB in the pre-Convoy days when you'd hear call signs from operators who had paid for their FCC licenses. The FM mode, UHF 462-467 span, authorizing up to...
