had to use a double male connecter to hook up a rf choke at the antenna feed of a imax..is this ok or will it need a sealent..if so would a spray stop leak type of thing do ?

thanks Molculo..the speaker has tone controls and sounds real nice but i was concenred about the pug into socket part..we,ll see what appens..has anyone ever tried to tap into the speakers from a'' bose radio '' ? ya know alot of them radios has a extra speaker jack on the back of them..

you gotta watch runnin a amp with a magnum also..alot of people have burned up a lot of amps with these radios..you can get em to dk 1 watt but they still swing at least 30..very touchy clarifiers also..almost impossible to clarify in the mobile..much better drift wise though than a galaxy . if...

no,,i mean the radial system placed directly on the ground..several wire 36 foot radials laid flat on the ground like the spokes of a wagon wheel and connected directly to the ground rod at the base of the mast .

ya er nay ? getting a new coax with a choke balun..its a imax 2000 with gpk..should i isolate the antenna from the metal pole er leave it metal to metal ? i,ll be running a seperate ground wire down from the antenna to ground rod at the base of the mast .

doc,,found on by mfj..20 some bucks , at least now i dont have to worry bout screwing up the homemade one and maybe messin up the braid of the coax..

Medina,,no,its not a new imax,its a new coax,..i just forget how the rings worked,its been so long since i tuned it i figered if i asked here i might save myself a few trips up and down the ladder adjusting the swr..

ordered new coax for the imax2000.in order to save time ,anyone remember how the tuning rings work ? does turning the rings up lengthen or shorten the antenna ?

thanks doc..i wasnt thinkin bout a premade coax one..i thought they made a connecter type thing that would hook up to the antenna lead..anyway with that i wouldnt need bout 8 feet of extra coax..

its time for a new coax for the imax with gpk but instead of winding a coax choke this time i want to order a premade choke..what exactly do you call them and bout how much they run ?

Boy this opens a can o worms..ok,, what if you get the exact lengths of cable and get a perfect swr,,then you change a jumper cable to a different size and your swr changes,,,,what now ?
