Hello Tejanodrum & Marconi:
Yeah Thats how you would think that the Balun would work, NOT effecting the SWR. But they do as I have measured this also.
A neat test you can do, is place a 50 ohm none inductive resistor accros the Balun output terminals and measure the SWR.
This becomes...
Hello Excavator 701:
I have bought 3 and 4 inch diameter round Dilrin from a local Plastic Dealer in Burbank California.
I have used it for mobile antenna prototyping and testing.
Look for a plastic shop or dealer that sells plastics.
hope this helps.

Hello Tajanodrum:
Really!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What type of 1 to 1 Balun did you try if I may ask? <img src=http://users.joplin.com/dutch64804/posticon60.gif ALT=":60">

Hello Catsknr:
My machinist will be cutting the hubs this weekend or so he says.
I don't push the guy to get prototype parts done. But after they are made and I test them, then he can give a solid production date.

Hello Tejanodrum:
Wow thats a lot of steam!
At 4000 watts come to 9 amps of current. Yeah that would handle the power.
But what about the Impedance Matching System? The RF voltage will be 447 volts.

Re: Question about Sigma 4, LW-150 , Sirio Vector 4000 anten
Hello Smalltiredart:
I down loaded the Sigma 4 Assembly Instructions, dated 3/82 from CB Tricks.com
www.cbtricks.com/
I see the H Mounting Brackets, but this does not insulate the Sigma 4 Antenna from the Mast. The H...

Re: Question about Sigma 4, LW-150 , Sirio Vector 4000 anten
Hello Smalltiredart:
I have seen the Sigma 4 type antenna work quite well, I used one for a few years.
I have heard about the interference problems also, and this may be from the vertical element is not insulated from the mast...
Hello Datsun66:
Wow its almost Saturday evening 9 PM here in Southern California, and its bidding price is 201.dollars, and the reserve isn't been hit yet!
I am gonna be watching this one.
The Penetartor 500 is a old Kick A$$ Antenna.

Hello wallyneumonic:
Yeah I seen the ground plan kit in catalogs.
Wounder why they don't use a real 1/4 wavelength ground plane radial kit?!??!?!?!!?!
I would try 4 each Francis Amazer Fiberglass 96 inch whip antennas. mounted straight and level at the base of the antenna. For starters...
Hello TonyV 225:
Maybe you could put the Super Scanner up say 30 to 40 feet away from the A99, and do a comparison test.
I'll put money the Super Scanner will work better than the A99. But not blow it away in a significant comparison test.
I have used the older Scanner Antenna, and it...
Hello FDTrucker:
You may have to install a Balun inbetween the coax and the dipole elements.
The Dipole antenna has one of its haves or elements connected to the coax shield, and the other half to the center wire in the coax. The center wire can not radiate as its inside the coax shield...
Hello Gary:
I also believe that the Sigma 2 or 5/8 Hubs will work on a Moonraker 4 beam antenna.
You can measure the holes, they should be 1 5/8" or 1.625 inches ID (Inside Diameter).
I think the 1 5/8 ID Hubs are used on the Sigma 2 or 5/8, the PDL II, Moonraker 4 beam. But the...
Hello Bud73:
Ok good deal, looks good.
I can't tell if the mast is made from PVC Plastic or metal pipe. Suggest the coax be run inside the metal pipes. I think it will all fit with the Tee inside the plumbing Tee, and coaxes to the antenna running thru the Horizontal pipes.
If the beams...
Hello Catsknr:
I talked to my Machinist last night, and gave him a unbroken set of Moonraker Hubs. I asked him to make a set again from Billet aluminum on his CNC Machine. So I will have the materials delivered this week and we will see how they come out.

Hello Catsknr:
During the past few years I have had two complaints about the Interceptor 10K Antenna doing the same thing, changing SWR with different power levels and in the wind.
We found that the Stainless steel hose clamps where not properly tighten down durning assembly. After...
Hello Catsknr:
Yeah those cast aluminum hubs are a good idea for low cost mass production light weight antenna stuff, but just don't hold up.
There are new technologies in casting materials that will allow the aluminum to be way more flexible, so the cracking and breaking of the Hubs will...
Hello Bud73:
Here is a web site for the Cushcraft 4 element 2 meter broad band yagi. It shows at the bottom of the page Figure 5 the Stacking arrangement for there 4 element beam. Model 124WB Boomer.

Hello Bud73:
Ok good deal. Yeah that would be a good call letting us know what happens there. We are all ears.
