Hello Copperhead56:
Maybe a small yellow flag on the antenna.
I know some guys paint their antennas the same or close to a Submarine Periscope so that it will blend into the woods and such.
But you want it to stand out.

Ok good deal, glad to hear your thoughts on all this.
Speaking of receiver noise and such. I have seen Molculo's (highly modified) Jeep modified both mechinically and radio wise. I was impressed with his noise reduction modifications that he had installed trying to reduce...

$ 325.00 Dollars plus shipping.
Ok the parts and parts manufacturing, parts handling, storage, and boxing isn't cheap with a small work force.
Trying to get inexpensive aluminum tubing is still a mystery...
Hello Datsun 66:
Which Butternut Beam are you talking about? Here is the web site for all the Butternut antennas.
www.bencher.com/pdf_download.html
Looking at the Butternut Model 1011 "Butterfly" Beam Antenna for both 11 and 10 meters, I'd say it looks like good construction.
But...

Hello Moleculo CDX363:
Why would you NOT want a better filter in the IF section of the receiver. Em I missing something here?
If you had a better front end with a lower noise figure, a more selecitive receiver would be a help, especially on a CB radio.
I am now thinking that a better 27...
Hello Justin:
I modified a old Cobra 148 GTL, with the Lou Franklin Channel Gaurd IF Crystal Filter about 10 years ago and did notice some improvement in the receiver being narrower. And I think I saw less bleed over.
But I must admit I didn't sweep the reciver or make before and after...
Hello QRN:
Glad to hear you have the Fiberglass Rod Insulator issue handled.
www.cushcraft.com/support/pdf/a3s.pdf
Sometimes when talking to outfits you can get the exact wrong person to talk to. Sorry to hear that.
I stock 1 inch OD (Outer Diameter) Fiberglass Rod, 24 inches long...
Hello Sparkplug 549:
Adding on say four ground plane radials may help.
I would use or (at least try) 4 each fiberglass whip antennas, say 102 or 96 inch long ones. Mounted right at the base of the vertical element, mounter straight and level with the ground. This will be more effective...

The Switch Box and Control Box can be duplicated or copied. Relays from RF Parts can be assemblied for the Switching Box.

Hello TonyV 225:
The Super Scanner Antennas are kind of a neat antenna in the sense you can find where stations are coming from in a instant.
They don't have a lot of rejection as compared to say a Moonraker or PDL-II, or Yagi Beam Antennas. But do have enough rejection to show what basic...
Hello Sparkplug549::
I am gonna make a guess here that the Moonraker 4 Beam Antennas spacings and element lengths are designed to compensate for both Vertical and Horizontal Elements. To some extent.
But I havn't measured such a thing.
As Marconi said, he had problems with the matching...
Hello Jonbah:
Good post there. The MaCo U-Bolts uses 1 1/2" and 2" and 3" inch U-Bolts and clamps. be advised. I would use the 2" inch U-Bolts and clamps.
The Moonraker Boom uses 1 5/8 diameter Boom that the Hubs or clamps will have to bolt on to, so the 1 1/2" inch U-Bolts will be too...
Hello Jeff:
What do do have in mind testing the mobile antenna????
I have one left, it has no coils, and is almost a full 1/4 wavelength long, and can be adjusted longer if needed.
I don't think this would be a drive around antenna tho. You may take out the local cable TV, and drag it...
Hello Audioshockwav:
Yeah what Moleculo said. Hehehehehehe.

Hello Sparkplug549:
The Moonraker Hubs where a cheaply made Cast Aluminum, that even broke when tightening when brand new ones out of the box. I know I broke a bunch of them while trying to be careful while tightening them or compressing them down on the Boom.
New Hubs could be made on a...
