    6m Larcan Conversion

Here are a few pictures of how I am doing my output. Instead of bothering with a connector, I am just attaching a piece of LMR400 Flex directly to the amplifier, then going into the LPF and Dow Key. Saves a connector on the amp and one on the jumper that is going to be there anyway. I am going...

I need a place to hide.....

I guess I am lucky. Wife's hobby is horses. My ham radio hobby is cheap in comparison. I wonder if I can pull a "Your horse trailer cost 3 times as much as that KW 2 meter amp I just bought!"

    6m Larcan Conversion

The rating of the relay has nothing to do with it. It's an impedance matching thing. Those types of relays often do not play well with 10 meters, and certainly not 6 meters. There will probably be a mismatch between amplifier and transmitter. And transmitter and antenna, if the amplifier is...

Are you planning on using that relay for T/R? That is not a very good choice. You should use a Dow Key type coaxial relay.

    6m Larcan Conversion

Nice, my 480 adjusts way down to 5 watts, I think. It does not have that spike problem, or so I have heard. Some of the Icom's do, as well. Michael, when do you usually listen on 50.110?

    6m Larcan Conversion

Bill, Michael, I need to get my butt in gear and get mine finished too. I think I am going to change output to an N, I was looking at this last night. The hex screws are metric and none of my wrenches would fit them. Off to Sears, I guess. I am thinking of just soldering a short piece of RG58 to...

    hf for dirt cheap

Should change the title of this post............ HF for DOUBLE the Price. Because after you paid for your radio and didn't get it, you would have to purchase another one.

    TCXO Filter

My Kenwood 1.8 Khz filter arrived last night and I got it installed. Just used it for a little bit on a ragchew up on 6 meters last night. It does make a difference in digging out weak signals. Have not tried it on the low bands, yet. As far as it not sounding good, there is a difference in...

    Love at First Sight! <3

I have it on good authority that the Kenwood 590 has a real kick arse receiver, on par with the K3.

    Rotor opinions

Depending on the size of your 2 meter array, perhaps an inexpensive rotor, such as those sold at Radio Shack, may serve your needs. I think they are around $100, give or take.

This is a Must read Guy`s.

I hear some HOA's are so restrictive, you are not allowed to open the hood of your car up to check your oil. An open hood might suggest that you are *shudder* working on your car. And for god's sake, do not jack up the car to do something vulgar, like change a flat tire. Please drive on the...

    TCXO Filter

I have found my 480 to be quite stable. Thanks for the link, ordered the 1.8 Khz filter for mine, a little cheaper than AES, plus no sales tax!

Does gain apply to receive as well as transmit?

A Beverage antenna is one example of an antenna the works well for receive, but is more or less a dummy load for transmit, though some folks have had limited success transmitting on them.

How common is SSB on 2 meters and 70 centimeters?

The attached PDF file is emailed out DAILY. Synopsis of US VHF/UHF activity from the previous day. You will be surprised. I look foward to reading it every day. Lots of neat pictures of stations, antennas, etc. Stan will gladly add you to his email list.
