    Midland 75-822

I think all of them are Vietnam made now. My first one was china made. If you get one from amazon it will be a Vietnam made unit. I put a zapp squeegee type screen protector on my 980 and the scratches are gone. Can't even see them now. I'm happy with the Vietnam unit. I added a modified...

On the china 980 the screen is tougher. It didn't scratch near as easy. The Vietnam made 980 you can't even wipe the skin of your finger on it without scratching it. it may not be the case with all of them but in my case it was. Could be a coincidence.

I've got one. Had it about a month now. there's supposed to be a channel mod for it but my internal board doesn't match the board that was posted on the site where I found the mod... The Author stated the mod was for the 820 AND 822 but the boards are slightly different so I didn't attempt to...

    980 internal feedback?

sounds like you're 980 is fine. It may be the power mic.

    Uniden 980 SSB

If you turn the AM power down too low it will give you a rf fail report. Antenna fail report and swr meter won't function correctly. I turned my 980 down to 1 watt and it failed all the test. Turned it back up to around 2 watts and it passed all test. so if you turn it down to 1 watt and...

    980 internal feedback?

Does it do this with the stock mic as well or just the road devil? Get reports from both mics and see if the problem is the same. One other thing, could you have bumped or touched something inside when you did the beep mod?

    Mobile amp wire size

You can buy 10' 10 gauge at advance auto or 8' 8 gauge. That is sufficient for a small amp. I've never had any problems with 10 gauge in 20 years. Put a vehicle protection fuse at the battery and your set. That's the short honest answer.

Finally bought a Sirio 5000 to try...

I just added a 5/8 washer under mine. It may or may not make any difference but it couldn't hurt. It appears to be as stable as it can be. No sheet metal bending that I've noticed.

    Finally found one....

Nice find... Been looking for a mint condition silver streak 150 for several years now. used to have one back in the 80's is the only reason why. Came close a few times but never in mint condition. congrats on the cobra.

Easy choice... ANL/NB because who wants to hear themselves talking and who wants to hear motor noise.

This guy every day! 38 low!!!

Someone needs to start a poll on the top ten irritating DX operators. 41 in coal country is at the top of my list for the past 3 weeks. Picks fights with other people then never shuts up.

This guy every day! 38 low!!!

Been hearing alot of blue waffle.. Also been hearing way too much of 41 in coal country Canada. Those two are definitely in the top ten of most irritating operators.

I'll be glad when its over...

I agree with that... 19 should be used for its intended service. So should channel 9. Is there still anyone that monitors ch 9 for emergency? I've NEVER heard an emergency call on that channel even back in the early 80's.

I'll be glad when its over...

To me, if I get a chance to talk to the UK and Germany for a few minutes its worth putting up with the noise toys and roger beeps. And yes even "day after day" blue waffle and Ivan.

    CB Radio Club

They've had issues in the past with hackers. So once you get ten post in to show you're a real person you're good to go... They do moderate the first few post before they show it in the topic list to be on the safe side. once you get over that hump I think you'll like the site. Just my opinion.
