I found in my stash (forgot i still have it) a bluish green 1/2 wave radio shack crossbow antenna. Does anyone know anything about it? IIRC the last time i tested it it had a mediocre match on 11 meters...
I have seen sweep tubes in amps last that long too. These "techs" tell you sweep tubes are bad when most of the tubes are older than I am and will last if you take care of them.
I've had all kinds of sweep tube amps over the years and never had issues with them "blowing up" or failing. Just drive it conservatively and you'll be okay......
I had one once but it was modified and someone took out four of the tubes and rewired it to use 31lq6 tubes. It never worked right so I sold it for parts. I still have the tubes. I kept them.
Most of the freeband ops I know all run hf ham gear opened up for "General coverage".... I know very few that run export or 10 meter stuff or converted cb gear.
