    My old friend President Jackson.

I don't think it's right either. But you have to remember it's 2013 not 1983:(. They pretty much do what they want when they want.

The New president jackson clone called a Zodiac Tokyo

Are you calling the right number? You are calling radioshop supply?.....Right? I haven't had any trouble getting ahold of them. They don't carry "all" of the parts for the rangers. just specialized ones. like most of the smd components you would have to get them in quanity to get them from...

Yep, Back in the 80's anyway.

    My old friend President Jackson.

I am suprised people are still expecting a warrenty on these radios. Have we all forgotten that they ARE an illegal non-type accepted radio? Hell they all are for that matter. We need to remember to look at the bigger picture gentelman. I don't ever expect ranger to accept involvement with...

    Radio swap high swr?

yes, The masters of the golden screwdriver. It is nice when they pull out the 54 MHz trap ground caps and damn near rip out the step up coil. Makes a real mess out of things.

    Radio swap high swr?

You are correct. Now add an amplifier to this situation and it will just make things that much worse.

    Radio swap high swr?

Reguardless of your antenna "tuning" IMD and Harmonics WILL have an effect on your swr meter reading. when your signal is full of unwanted products it makes a true swr reading impossible. You normally do not see this in ham equiptment as you do in export rigs.

    Radio swap high swr?

'As long as you don't move the antenna you can switch to any radio and not have to worry." I disagree. The swr CAN vary from radio to radio even if it is "matched" well with the first radio. This is due to the various "states" of tuning inside the radio as one with a higher Harmonic and...

Thank you for the information. It is much appreciated.

    Yeasu or off brand?

Well after allot of research it looks like it will be a Kenwood. But I can't seem to decide on either the tm-v71a or the tm-710. I have read reports of the tnc's failing on the 710's, and are very pricey to repair. I would be interested in relocating the mic (not to keen on shoving the...

Exactly. So which ones are "full duplex"?

    Yeasu or off brand?

    I think you missed post # 20.
  15. The Mad Scientist

    Yeasu or off brand?

I seen those. But in a video of the tm-v71a the rx on 440 was cut off when xmitting on 2 meter.
  16. The Mad Scientist

    Yeasu or off brand?

I am wondering if the kenwood tm-710 and tm-v71a are full duplex? Been readinf awhile and can't seem to find this info.
  17. The Mad Scientist

    Yeasu or off brand?

Yes I have read the reviews. It looks as though the Kenwood tm-v71 is another viable option. There looks to be issues with both of these rigs. I read about the crystal filter going bad and one of the receivers going deaf in the Kenwood. It would seem that the most complaints from the 8800r are...

Value of Ranger RCI 2950 First Generation Orange display.

Due to the large amount of issues that the first generation radios had, I would have to say no more than $100 bucks.
