A Ham buddy of mine just got one of the 5r's and has been playing with it a bit and likes it so far. I'm actually waiting for mine to be delivered hopefully this week. The only complaint from my friend is the stock antenna...any recommendations as to a replacement for it?

Real PITA if the person rambles for a min or two and the other does the same. Then you got an 8 min gap between your replies...I wouldn't hang around for that.

I have to agree with some of the other posts. Even if it's an older unit, with the shop rates being what they are today and adding in parts your up to the cost of a new radio real quick. I know with our shop rates you would be at half the cost of a new one with just the labor alone after an hour.
