The extreme 2018 is a good noise cancelling echo mic with a whole boat load of features and doesn't limit you on the radio you can use. If you are someone who can install the echo boards and plan to use it as your primary radio then echo boards are 1/4 as much and cost and a very good echo board...
Speedracrr6g I wasn't meaning that only Bird meters were being messed with and not Dosy. We all know how accurate the Bird is and as long as no one has tinkered with it then it will give very valid numbers. But there are others who do mess with there meters whether they be a Bird, Dosy, Astatic...
Use the feedback to estimate the validity of their item, then go to thier feedback and see if they sell a lot of cb related equipment and if they state untested or no way to test, then guess what- it probably is in need of repair they couldn't do or just passing junk on to others. Those with...
I think in the right radio the Astatic sounds very good; mostly in Uniden radios which tend to when peaked have a higher dk. The hook-up is easier and they don't need to have the pre-amp adjusted. That being said the RF limited does sound good and has a lot of features. As far a plug and play...
Just wondering what kind of mic you are using; sometimes the impedence of the mic may have done something to the radio. Is the mic a small and very thin and may say electret microphone or high impedence. Just wondered.
I dont think it will be a simple as an alignment; and not to argue about which radio is better than another. To beat a dead horse let just say that the Grant has been and is still a much better radio on SSB than the 959 will ever be even without having a frequency counter to watch. On Am I think...
I would hope this is a very minor issue. How long have you had the radio, if less than 2 years and even if you are not the original owner you could probably get it covered as long as you haven't done any major modifications. Good luck.
If I were you I would clear up the issues with the radio before installing a 1969 final which if its a mitsubishi costs as much as you have in the radio if not a little more. I worked on one of these not to long ago for a friend and this particular radio was made around 1989 or so and was very...
Where did you install the resistor? Was it across the PA and EXT speaker ground pads, or did you install across the internal speaker. The 100ohm is ok but the 1W resistor is a little too much. I would use 2 100ohm resistors twisted together(50ohms total) at a 1/4 watt rating. You could go up to...
1342 if you have a question about whether you can install on your Magnum radio call up Al at Sparky's and he should be able to answer your question. If not go to his web site and join up on the section of ask the tech and post the question. He will or someone will harp in and give you an answer...
1342 I would say the 30-40w RMS is probably a more honest reading. I have done a couple of these and my "happy" reading Dosy shows around 35-40w RMS at an honest 13.79-80v reading using a Astron VS-35m and my old analog swing meter by Radio shack I purchased 25 yrs ago(also confirmed withing...
It does matter as far as the inductance of the coax and winding close to the radio. It will have some effect on your swr, however small every little bit helps. I forgot one thing that it might also be; the speaker. It could come in and out if the solder connections are starting to be a cold...
On ebay there is a guy allenward69 I believe that has a few youtube videos that show his NH and it looks great. You can contact him through ebay and he will tell you how to convert it; and he has the leds to do it, may be a little pricey through him. But I believe he drills holes in the back of...
The excess coax no matter how you coil it should be kept coiled as close to the radio as possible. There are other things to rule out before lifting lids off the radio. One is to make sure it is definitely not the mic by trying a spare and see if that helps, if no spare then jiggle the wires on...
To add to the information the radio is one of the original 3600 boards and has a single final. It also pops when echo is turned on and will pop when letting go of the key. It only does it on key-up with the echo off. My thoughts is that it is a capacitor near the transformer; one of them has...
Not a mic problem; the stock, RK56, and astatic 636l all do it. It makes a slow dissapating noise when I turn the power off. Keying up causes a kind of pop noise and turning the power off causes it to have a slow dissapating noise like a capacitor is leaking down. I suppose it probably a cap...
I have an older Connex 3300 that makes a popping noise through the internal as well as the external speaker during key-up. Anybody have a solution to my problem. Thanks
I also installed one on a cobra 29 ltd chrome; and as speedracer6g said he got 70w out of his Dosy as did I. I ran my supply at 13.79-80 and saw these numbers of 75-77w max with a dk of 15w and modulation through the roof. As a 30 yr tech you should know that some of the people saying they are...
It seems that someone was either trying to put high pass filter on the speaker to cut out the noise and forgot the capacitor; or they were trying to get talkback on the radio. I would go with talkback most likely and they were a little short of getting it done.
