ICOM 92AD GPS gets it right...

Power for GPS Yes, being able to shut it off would be cool. I also wish the speaker mic had an earphone jack on the bottom of the mic like the mic I had for my FT51 and FT-50R did.

Poor GPS Function with CT-136 on VX-8DR

CT-136 and GPS Position Failure Yes, I am fairly certain the CT-136 is faulty in some way. I plan to test again later today to ensure the GPS wasn't right on the edge of getting all the almanac info from the sats when I switched to the CT-136. If it can't locate again I'll take it back to the...

Arrow Antenna I decided to order one myself to use with the VX-8DR and eventually with my FT-897D. Their website says they're catching up on orders and you can;t order from them. I ordered from Universal Radio and it's coming tomorrow. I sure wish I could buy the carry case/bag they...

Poor GPS Function with CT-136 on VX-8DR

CT-136 and GPS Position Failure Thanks for your suggestions Mike. I'm back home in Connecticut and thought I'd pick up this issue again. I went out into a pretty open area near my home..pretty big opening to the sky. The GPS attached to the CT-136 attached to the VX-8DR did not pick up the...

Poor GPS Function with CT-136 on VX-8DR

I have my VX-8DR now for couple of weeks or more and I really like it. I originally bought it with the speaker mic and GPS Adapter and installed them in the shop and they worked great on the way home in the car. Later I bought a CT-136 adapter for when I travel and just want to slip the HT in...

Mole- it never occurred to me to try mounting the antenna ON THE SATELLITE!:laugh: LOL May be on the tripod, or on a handgrip, but not on the satellite.

    Ham Radio Deluxe with DigitalMaster

Interfacing FT-897 Thanks for that reply Mole. I am not especially handy beyond soldering connectors and I gather being able to both isolate the rig and control audio levels are key. I was looking at the RigBlaster units...man they're expensive, but the Pro version seems to have all the...

    Ham Radio Deluxe with DigitalMaster

HRD DM How are you interfacing to the HF Rig? I am looking at the Rigblaster possibly for a pending FT-897D purchase.

Repeater Freqs Minuteman Repeater Association Wouldn't it be 146.82 - .60 = 146.22 ? So: 146.82 Output or Listen with your HT 146.22 Input or transmit with PL 146.2 from your HT

New Guy here, slight issue with HT please help

Power I don't really see why you would forge ahead in simplex mode to hit a repeater...but that aside have you verified that the repeater had a standard offset? Granted most do...and verified + versus - offset right? Did you try lower power by any chance? A different antenna? I don;t imagine...

How to 'resend' a failed APRS Msg on VX-8DR

If I attempt to send an APRS test message on my Yaesu VX-8DR, and it fails to get an ACK in its 5 attempts, it becomes a 'TX' message and is just left there it seems. If I should want to try again when in better digi coverage do I really have to go through creating the message again? Can I not...

Why is 155.9475 an invalid rx freq on VX-8DR?

Step Closer Moleculo- thanks for the suggestion to go to 6.25khz steps. That did let me put the freq in as you did at 155.94375 I've started learning the various scan modes- lot to learn even for a guy that has had 5 Yaesus before this one and a bunch of scanners of all types over the years.

Why is 155.9475 an invalid rx freq on VX-8DR?

155.9475 You can't just leave off the last digit actually. When you type it in you get 1>5>5>9 and BOOM it goes to 155.950. I did just hear the fire company tone out and mobile units just fine that way.

Why is 155.9475 an invalid rx freq on VX-8DR?

I guess I am hitting all the weird use cases and glitches this week with my new Yaesu VX-8DR. It seems the VX-8DR can't handle the STEP needed to accept my local Fire Department's frequency of 155.9475. I guess I just have to go with 155.95? I just got the ADMS-VX8 SW from Yaesu from my local...

    VX-8DR Label Memories:Set ModeItem #53 (Why no #53 available?!) P#50 US Manual

#53 via #35 That did it! Way to know. I did see as I started to work with the ADMS SW that you can check or uncheck some of these items and that one had apparently been checked when I apparently turned on the extended menu....who would have thought that the Extended Menu would take away choices?
