Does efficiency play into any of the modelling?
AM broadcast towers typically have 120 radials beneath them. If it were better to stick with just four I'm sure they would not go through the added effort and expense.
Not that one. I'll take a picture of the better crimp tool after getting home from NEAR-Fest next week. I've had to redo many hex crimped connectors done with that tool.
Type-N are easy to install if you have the crimp tool. For VHF and UHF operation they have much better frequency response. If you're operating at 3.5MHz you could almost use gator clips...
Larcan RF output adapters
I pulled apart one of the Larcan slide on RF output adapters to Type-N. The spacer between the two ends is 1/4 inch thick. I have a few of the chassis slide on sides available, but the rest would have to be supplied elsewhere.
Larcan 1kW and 1.5kW amplifier modules
Directional Antennas Made Simple
Get the book Directional Antennas Made Simple by Jack Layton. It covers AM broadcast antennas and how to phase two or more to create directional patterns. The same concepts and techniques can be applied to 27MHz or any other frequency.
Directional Antennas...

Here are the instructions Paul sent earlier. I need to get mine setup and operational...
SDR Install Instructions
Follow these instructions and your R820t dongle will work. Of course the amount of hours I have into it I could have gone and bought a Flex 5000 :)...
I don't have my power supply yet, so no idea how it will work. If too noisy I may swap out the fans for something lower speed.
The diagram looks like you can adjust up to 13.2VDC. Can the resistor be reduced further to get a higher voltage output? What is the maximum output for the power...
Many power supplies will auto detect the input voltage and switch accordingly. Plug it into 120VAC or 240VAC and you will get 12V out. I ordered one for $18. Hard to go wrong at that price.
I haven't put anything on the air or done any mods.
Hope to sell a bunch of amplifier modules at NEAR Fest in early May.
Here's what I'm hoping to bring along.

Here are a few pics of rigid line and patch panels at my work. The molten 25kW dummy load has a 3 inch line on top. In the pic of flexible lines the large ones are 5-inch Andrew HJ9-50.
Ever wonder what it looks like inside the tower? There are a few pictures in and around a couple of...
Wrong. No way. Stop.
The Bird meter accuracy is typically +/- 5% of full scale reading.
For a 100 watt element that would be +/- 5 watts ANYWHERE on the scale.
Mid scale reading would be 25 watts +/- 5 watts, for accuracy within 20%!
Always use analog meters as close to full scale as...
