You do have a 2995DX correct? The 2166 and 2312 are your drivers, the finals in that radio are a pair of Toshiba 2290’s. Those are 80 watt finals. There is no reason to mess with the drivers, you should be getting around 150 watts from that radio.

Bingo, that's what I would buy. How much is it worth broken? If you like the radio and plan on using it then might as well fix it with the correct final.

Nothing is failing that’s what happens when things get hot. Maybe add a fan kit or try to come up with a plan to cool the radio down. You could also consider a TCXO circuit/mod.

I would say no. With current RCI radio’s it is what it is. That led bar graph is ballpark at best. There is no direct correlation between the two.

If you have a trusted shop that close it would be pretty easy to ship it to them. Just double box it and use those foam peanuts.

If you click on the third picture you can see the plug it comes with. They are designed to plug into the back of a radio that has that style port already there. A tech might be able to do a hard wire in, not sure. That said this post is from 2013 and he marked them sold.
