The kl-505 appears to be more of an HF amplifier. Says 230 watts.

The HTX10 is getting pretty old and as I recall they could not be modified for 11m use. For what you will have to pay for one of these or an old 2510 you might as well buy new. Check out the Anytone radio’s or the Radioddty versions. Best bang for the buck and you won’t be fixing them.

I also have a Generac GP5500, it’s loud but it’s a beast of a generator. Generac also now has a line of inverters similar to the Honda’s. Have not really checked them out.
They are on the expensive side for a stamped out surface mount board. Most amp builders start with a copper board and actually build an amp that is then hand tuned. I would rather pay for that kind of work. The mosfets they use are not even transmitting finals. When you read the specs they seem...
Agreed. I’ve had a Honda 2200i inverter since 2008, superb power inverter. I can run my furnace, a tv, and three 75 watt light bulbs no problem. Since it only has a one gallon tank you do have to gas up every 4-5 hours. Where it really shines is powering sensitive electronics.
Probably depends on what mic you are using as well. With say a RK56 I could run the magnum radio’s mic gain wide open. On SSB with a Turner plus 3b I set the radio at 2/3’s and the Turner at maybe 30-40%.
The last few years on the base I run an Icom 718and now a Yeasu 991a. I don’t ever run...
This is a decent meter for the price.

RF can do funny things like that. There are many variables involved. Clipped radio, poor ground, bad jumper, bad coax, class C amp, location of antenna, location of coax run, and in some cases it will never go away.
Years ago a tow truck driver could key his radio and amp and his wipers would...
Hello there. I just got my Tech back in April and I started studying in January. Here is a link to the study guide I bought. Then go to arrl.org and find the practice test section. You will need to create a free account but then you can take as many tests as you want I took 30 tests in two...

And this next guy has some just amazing deals on some Texas Star amps that need just a touch of work...
His issue was with the radio being mistuned and he was checking SWR in the wrong mode. He last visited this forum in May of this year so he might be able to respond.
