As far as a receive antenna goes You can have a little better luck if you leave the connector unscrewed on the back of your receiver and pull it out just a scosh (is that a word? lol) so that just the center conductor is in contact. Sometimes it will work wonders for a nu resonant antenna.

I use a flat top rohn tower, so mine just bolts to the top of the tower. If you haave the other type, you will have to buy a plate to put inside your tower above your rotor to support the weight of the antenna and mast. mike

Once they got rid of the display screen problems the 706 was a good solid 100 watt radio. Mine is an earlier model and I went through the usual problems with in the first year, but it has been really solid since. The general isn't much harder than the tech test. As a matter of fact a lot of the tech questions reappear on the general. It does however get harder when and if you go for the extra.LOL It delves more into theory, and thats where I am at now digging mt way out to get ready for the test. LOL mike
