I wasn't aware that there was a leakage problem with this antenna. Thanks for the info. I've been using one for a couple of years now and haven't noticed any problems. I assume if it was filling with water you would notice a change in the SWR. My readings are the same as when I first installed...
I only know of 1 person that experienced an overheating problem and it was due to the lack of air circulation. He had the radio mounted in a cubby hole in his vehicle. Once the radio was relocated the overheating problem went away. Personally, I have never had an overheat situation even during...
My vote is for the 7000 also. I've never had a problem with mine. :thumbup1: With the Holiday sales right around the corner you might be able to pick one up for a couple hundred under the current retail prices.
My Grandmother used to have that problem, but the treatment of incontinence has come a long way in recent years. Have you considered consulting a doctor?
Nice rig. I wouldn't worry about what your friends find humor in. Enjoy it. :thumbup1:
Only because you want it to. The idea that something (after cleaned) that was owned by a smoker has a 'stench' is mostly psychological. A study was done on this subject a few years back and only 2% could...
Kids? LMAO
I haven't purchased anything from Copper in at least 25 years if not longer. I won't purchase from H&Y either...not even a PL259 or mic plug. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. I won't give them the opportunity for that second sentence to transpire. ;)
If you were familiar with Sparky's 'tunes' you'd know that leaving the limiter intact is part of the grand illusion that his radios are 'clean'. He doesn't take the time to desolder and remove them. Instead, he flips the radio over and cuts the trace to it with a razor knife. It's much quicker...
I really don't think the OP was shooting down any suggestions. IMO he offered logical reasons for not wanting to purchase the Wouxun. He said he wanted an HT, so a mobile unit is also not a logical choice. I guess it just depends on how you interpret what was said.
I have two of the VX7 HTs...
I never did a side by side comparison of the guts, but I would imagine that components that don't have tight tolerance and a different element would be the difference. I don't know if they changed the circuit design or not. IMO you'd be better off finding a D104M6 Minute Man II rather than...
With all due respect, I don't think your comment holds much merit. Stupid is as stupid does. The fact that he is a 'no-coder' has nothing to do with it. In fact, I hear more violations and intentional jamming on the air around here being done by OTs that were required to learn code in order to...
I wonder if updates have been done to the radio but without a lot of publicity or formal announcement. When it first came out, some had an overheating problem. However, those complaints seem to have disappeared. The early models also were said to have a problem with the audio requiring a...
If you're getting more noise now that the radio +/- is connected directly to the battery I would suspect it is due to the radio's wiring harness running close to/parallel with other wiring and picking up the noise from them. The capacitive nature of the battery will usually suppress noise, not...
I do not own an FT2000, and have never wired a D104 to one, but if I was going to this is the configuration I would try. You are using this info at your own risk. I will not be held liable for any damage that may result from using this information.
Emails going unanswered at Sparkys - whether about your account or questions about purchases - is common place. I seriously doubt you will get a reply. If you want to PM me the name of your friend I will send him a PM at Sparkys asking him to join this forum so you can get in contact with him.
Since you said you eyeballed the circuit board I figured you checked the terminal strip also, but if you haven't a wire still attached but with several broken strands can cause this problem also.
