I have never heard of this what rig are you using that would be able to be turned on from Ham Radio Deluxe and what type of interface.

In what way is this antenna an improvement over the original? Does the coax connector make it get out better?

There was a local cber who lived up a dis a way 25 or so years ago, he worked in construction as a cement mason his company truck was a 16' stake body truck with a water tank on it, he had his radio and amp hooked in the truck, and was a avid skip talker so took a pretty decent size chain bolted...

Are you using a external SWR meter? Usally after you get someone in ther with a golden screwdriver the internal SWR meters in radios dont seem to function.
