Unfortunately, I cannot put it on the roof. So, I have been considering my original placement since I have good guy wire points that I can use for it. But am not sure yet...When I get the antenna I will be playing around with it some more to test out the best placement.

I've seen something similar in Ione, Washington (15 min from Canada). I was outside at around 5 a.m. and all the sudden a bright blue flash lit up the sky and continued to streak west across the sky and left a trail of smoke for at least 20 min in the sky...amazing sight, I will never forget it.

New antenna mast. Not put up yet of course. It's got some rust on it, but I think it's only cosmetic, the pole is still very sturdy.

Thank you for the advice guys, I will exercise extreme caution during the installation process. I will set everything up on the ground first, then raise the complete setup (mast and antenna) and secure it to the the clothesline pole. That way I avoid using ladders and reduce the potential...
