I've noticed some of the 213 is 213/U Military Spec. Is this just hyping it up or is there really an advantage?

Newbie Base Station Setup - Cont.

Ok, I have some Coax questions... Here's my setup. I need to know what type of coax would be best for my application. President Washington 40ch AM/SSB (finally got it!) Solarcon IMAX 2000 (still waiting to purchase...) 50' of coax needed + jumper for SWR testing. (need help on what...

    Newbie Base Station Setup diagram

Unfortunately, I cannot put it on the roof. So, I have been considering my original placement since I have good guy wire points that I can use for it. But am not sure yet...When I get the antenna I will be playing around with it some more to test out the best placement.

    Newbie Base Station Setup diagram

Guy wire setup. Ok, so I have the location for my antenna mast now. Now I set it up yesterday morning so I could see how much it will move in the wind. It sways maybe 1-3 feet at the most, however, this is without the antenna on it. So I figure it will sway at least double that once I get...

It's a desert. Enough water is wasted down here watering all the exclusive golf courses as it is... Plus, it's easier to take care of

    Newbie Base Station Setup diagram

I'm figuring out a way to make a brace for it instead of guy wires. Anchor the other 10' pole I have to my roof using some kind of swiveling/hinged coupler in a very strong spot and secure it to the antenna mast about 5 feet from the top of the antenna mast. The wind generally blows West to...

    Newbie Base Station Setup diagram

If I were to use guy wires, where would I secure them to based on this picture? Yes, I can see two on the roof or eves of the house, but what about for the fence side? I cannot attach anything in, to, or on the dirt lot due to the electric and cable companies needing access to the power pole...

    Newbie Base Station Setup diagram

How about this location? It is away from the power lines and on the side of my house. Closest wire is a cable wire, that is about 10 feet away on the back side of the house. There is an empty dirt lot next to me, so nothing to worry about there. The first picture is the pole just leaning...

    Meteor Wednesday night

I've seen something similar in Ione, Washington (15 min from Canada). I was outside at around 5 a.m. and all the sudden a bright blue flash lit up the sky and continued to streak west across the sky and left a trail of smoke for at least 20 min in the sky...amazing sight, I will never forget it.

New antenna mast. Not put up yet of course. It's got some rust on it, but I think it's only cosmetic, the pole is still very sturdy.

    Newbie Base Station Setup diagram

I most definitely will be taking some pictures of my setup once it's complete. I am going to be getting a 21' long, 1" diameter pole today that I will be using in place of the existing antenna mast I have. I'll put pics up as I complete.

    Newbie Base Station Setup diagram

Thank you for the advice guys, I will exercise extreme caution during the installation process. I will set everything up on the ground first, then raise the complete setup (mast and antenna) and secure it to the the clothesline pole. That way I avoid using ladders and reduce the potential...

    Newbie Base Station Setup diagram

Not my tree unfortunately...plus that tree gets whipped around a lot in the wind, probably not the best idea for the antenna. By the way, what's up Thumper?

    Newbie Base Station Setup diagram

I now have questions as to what type of pole to use for my antenna mast. I may have access to a 25' galvanized steel pipe but am worried that it might be too heavy. If I use this 25' galvanized steel pipe, I will be using 3 or 4 guy wires to support it. Will this be enough? There will be...
