I've had numerous "customers" confuse talkback/echo/big radio sound with eachother. Sometimes it's funny, other times frustrating trying to explain the difference. Some just can't believe that an echo board does not add power to their radio. They can "if" adjusted right make you audio sound...

The one I have work very well. It's the 100w version. Tried to sell it on here for a while but no real hits. It's more radio than what I need. May have to list it on E-bay w/a reserve.

I have one and it's for sale as well. Great radio talks good. In good shape for an older radio.

I now have 2 Nugatrons. Very happy to get this second one. Fixing to mount one on the top of my Ramcharger. Soon as we figure out the best place in relation to SWR. Kinda worried about trees. Going to have to cut some limbs today just to get in and out of the yard.

Jerry's Electronics in Houston is another excellent shop. Been around for 30 + yaers. Not the cheapest, but a very good shop. When I get in a bind or scratch my head they are always willing to help. Great people. But alas not near Chicago

I watch and buy things on E-bay regularly. Got some good deals.

Once you get the work one by someone you are happy with, stay out of it. Don't let just anyone work on yer stuff. Lots of "GOLDEN" screwdrivers out there lurking looking . :biggrin:

Like it has been said...lower the dead key...really much to high. Adjust the radio for a lower dead key and better forward swing. Reset the modulation to 100% not slamming the meter. Hopefully no one has cut the limiters. Get a good dummy load and test. If it still happens go through the antenna...

I do a fairly good mail order/internet business in the shop. Not near Chicago. But we do have a warranty on all work and parts. All we ask of the customer is all packages be shipped insured and with a tracking number. Just throwing it out there.

Doesn't affect me one way or the other. I'm too close to 4 truck stops and I-10. Sometimes I do jump up to lower side of 38 and just listen. Trying to find some sanity in this insane world...

Another MFJ-259/269. A good DOSY meter, soldering station, a better signal generator. ect., ect. ect....the list is endless...

Really does sound like a coax, connector mount SWR problem. Chek everything. If you have or have access to a MFJ 259 use it. Also check you coax for shorts. same with you mount bad ground or no ground. Just a starting point. Although you meter adjustment could be out of calibration not likely to...

If you don't locate any let me know. I have some in stock. They are getting hard to obtain.
