looks like they work the same way as the maco v quad. I think its called a delta loop. should be good for dx and local feed with a single run of feedline.
"T connector at the amplifier to hookup the 2 antennas"
not really a cophase setup. probably using the t connector and 2 50 ohm coax feedlines. Why? I have no earthly idea. surely cant have a good swr.
i vote for the 5000, if you are gonna go ahead and buy new, you mine as well, better coax and bigger diameter coil. the difference is splitting hairs, but I would go ahead and pay the little difference. they are both great antennas!!
well, I had time to fool with it last night. I couldnt get the thing to swing consistently on 40 and 1.
I also tried out the cap and resistor mod along with the mosfet, very, very low dk (like 1/5w) and swing was only about 20w.
I got tired of fooling with it so I put everything back to...
well, I am no where near as knowledgable as ya'll are, but I think my main difference between the 2 was a better ground plane with the whip. I have a direct ground with the whip using ground straps from the toolbox to the frame.
with the wilson all I had was a capacitance ground (using the...
i agree jim,I think who sets them up makes a good difference. Undertaker said 8541 electronics set this one up. So far I like their work.
I went in and adjusted the pot inside the mic to max and just adjust mic gain now on the radio to not be a bit too hot. that seemed to help my modulation...
i already have it removed. I have a 10k stud mount thru the toolbox and no spring. she has less lean back at highway speeds and it didnt make much difference at all on the swr on 11m. the 102" is so springy as it is, aint nothin gonna hurt it.
yep, they say the wilson 5000 is pretty broadbanded, but not near as the 102" in my findings.
hell, she was below 1.5 under 11m and on in to 10m (at least where I am allowed at 28.3-28.5)
what I am wondering though is what the difference made. was it the better grounding as a hard mount...
I have a magnum 257 that covers 10m and 11m. Ideally I was trying to tune 1 antenna to tune low on 10m and 11m so I could use an amp inline.
I have a wilson 5000 mag mount on top of the cab of my f150. I tried and tried but couldnt get the swr good on both 10 and 11. I could either trim it...
bobby,
i had the same setup at one point. the top gun to me didnt make much of a difference on the meter with the amp, maybe 5-10w more. On my tests locally the guy on the other end couldnt tell a difference. I just left mine on.
