You could get a 148gtl and change out the crystal to make it a 10 meter radio. They are super stable and can easily cover the whole 10 meter band. You wouldn't have fm but they talk good and don't drift around. Just a thought anyhow.

I think that radio has a dynamike, is it turned all the way to the right or to the left? Crank it all the way to the right if it is to the left and that should fix you up unless something is wrong with the mic circuts.

If you want to do it yourself I would look on CBTRICKS and find the one listed that looks the most like your layout. There are a couple of service manuals listed there and what you want would be in there if it pertains to your radio.

Looks like there is a shop in TN on the list of reccommended shops. Have you tried a different radio on that same antenna to verify it is the radio and not the antenna putting the noise into the radio? Have you tested the power output into a dummy load instead of the antenna?

I use the christmas style LED bulbs with the resistor as posted above and you can get them in different colors and cost less for a whole string than getting them in packets and you have lots of spares.
