Hey ROC1, have you ever used a matching coil on the inside of the vehicle? How did it work? Did it perform successfully? What were the disadvantages? Anyone else for that matter can chime in...............Pro's? Con's?

I think I am getting confused now too, I believe we were talking about some type of simple matching device to bring the impedance of an already resonant quarter wave antenna to 50 ohms......:whistle:

I can see where you are coming from ROC1, if a guy was running a full length antenna tho, what would be the harm of attaching the matching coil a couple of inches up? Other then being a pain in the butt. Mabe it would change the resonate length.....idk......guess I havn't tried it

I like the way you explained that CK......yes the 55 is loaded, both antennas were placed in the same spot, puckmount on the top of a pickup cab about 18" from the back of the cab. Truck is a 4 door F 250 so there should be pretty good ground plane toward the front. That graph is good info...

That box should take a 4 to a 6 watt dk no problem, I would just be a little concerned about the pep watts. If it was my box, I would't hit it with more then 20 or 25 watts pep. That is all that is required to drive it to full output, sure if you run the drive up you will see more wattage on the...

I didn't want to take away from the mobile gamma thread, so here goes something for discussion. My 55 antenna shows around 36 ohms at the feedpoint, sounds normal right? When my full length antenna shows resonance, it is showing around 63 ohms. Just seems a bit backwards to me. SWR is showing...

On the KOGB website, he talks about using an enamled wire, is this important? Or say a piece of copper tubing like you suggested Shock, would it need to be coated someway? Or is there no need for worrying about arcing?

Would anyone have a suggestion how to do the shunt in a mobile app. like pictured, in a scenario where higher wattage is being fed to the antenna? Just for an example, say a couple kw?
