    Dipole Question

    1) Yes - both. Try to get it as far away from other objects as possible and up in the air. 2) SSB = most likely means you want to talk DX so put it horiztontally. 3)If you're worried about the visibility of the antenna and that's why you're laying it on the roof - go with a random wire. You...

Imax 2000 on a 190' tower crane Swr problem

Have you tried putting together the full setup at ground level to see if the SWR issue appears there? Really just a process of elimination. If setup works perfectly on ground but not on crane then something on the crane mounting has changed from previous installs that is causing the issue. If...

    Xforce amp.....good thread??

    1) I looking for a 2x8 low drive Do you plan to run this mobile or as a base. Mobile you're going to need a big alternator + extra batteries. Open your wallet - new high output alternator, new batteries, new cables, probably new hardmount mobile antenna if you don't already have one. Base -...

    Xforce amp.....good thread??

He nailed it. If you have to ask basic questions about a 2.5kw system then you aren't ready for it. Stick with your RM amp and you'll save yourself lots of time and money.

    Sirio 5000 performer......

A lot of the online shops don't have real-time stock. Once you order you receive a backorder message so don't assume because you can get to check that it's in stock.

    Texas Star dx350hdv

222 is right. On the 2 x 455 mrfs I found they did best with only 1w max, on many of the variations of that amp if you did 2w or higher the amp just hit its peak rather than key low and swing. With the xforce and texas star 2 x 2879's sweet spot was 2w input and swing up from there on AM.

    Galaxy 959 Questions

Galaxy radios are usually okay inside. In a vehicle they tend to drift and with SSB its a pain in the butt. That being said the 959 and 979 both can sound really good on SSB with a good tune and nice microphone.

Getting back into SSB on the 11 meter band

KL203 will work fine with a 2950DX on SSB stock. If running AM you'll need to set the 2950DX AM carrier to around 1 to 1.5 watts for best results. Really not much need to run it on AM anyway since guy is interested in SSB DX. I've run different KL203's with Galaxy 88, General Lee, Magnum 257...

    Which 11 meter dipole antenna???

If you have to buy a dipole the Radiowavz ones are constructed with the highest quality in my experience. Building one is so simple though really no need to buy one. Save up for a antenna analyzer to make it even easier.

Palomar ELITE 400 HD input wattage?

Palomar 400 is 300 watts out as Shockwav said. If you're seeing 400 watts you're not seeing real watts.

    New Grant 2 Premium

I was pointing out that the original radio was overpriced for the features and output, especially compared to the Lincoln II or Maxlog or basically any of the other radios that can do 40-50watts which is 4 times the output of the original Grant II and does make a difference. I agree no point to...

    Flamethrower Galaxy 959

Rule of thumb - Avoid any stock radio that's been worked on by anyone and then given a stupid name such as "Flamethrower" or "Whackpack". In fact don't ever buy anything but a stock radio. I've yet to see anything done by one of these ass-monkeys that was worth the $50-200 they charge. "But...

    New Grant 2 Premium

Nice that it puts out more than the original. First version wasa nice radio, just had no balls for output.Still not much bang for the buck for output.

    Amp question

If you want to run a 350 size 2 x 2879 amp then just do the mod to lower deadkey or have your tech do it. If you do it yourself it might cost you $10 in parts. 350 size amp will cost you around $200. If you don't want to mod anything then go for a 4 x 2879 amp - $400 but keep in mind your...

    Amp question

It depends on the radio. What radio do you have? With most export radios or SSB CB radios it's a simple as turning a pot inside the radio. If it's a AM only CB radio such as a Cobra 29 it most likely would require doing a little soldering but it's fairly easily - here's one example of the mod...

    Amp question

I used to run both a x-force and a magnforce 2 pill (2879's) and they liked about 2.5 watt -3 watt deadkey with swing from a export radio around 25 watts. Rather than go to a bigger amp, why not adjust your deadkey - it's a lot easier than trying to wire and set up a big amp.
