The Yaesu website say this about the 400MHz IF DSP:
Feature description will follow soon
The FT-450 Operation Manual says:
Intermediate Frequencies: 67.899 MHz / 24 kHz
So my guess is that what is new for the "D" model is the "400 MHz", not the IF DSP, meaning a 400 MHz Processor as...
If by "inexpensive" you mean $200 or so, try to find a local "elmer" (a seasoned ham, willing to help) that can help you buy a used HF rig, and get a $40 or so Dipole. You should be able to talk hundreds to thousands of miles with that, depending on weather conditions (i.e. sunspots) Buying...

145.9150
145.9200
145.9200
145.9200
145.9250
These frequencies are simple ratios of the offsets you gave for the .7M band frequencies.
and .9166 - .9200 is .0034, or 3.4Khz. so you are right about that.
I...
I'd like to compare the specs of the new 450d against a 950, I hope to have my General license in the next 12 hours, so I will soon be looking for a good HF base rig.
Just watched your video. Thanks!
You say that the Doppler effect is more pronounced on UHF, and not to worry about the 2M band for the five different channels.
After thinking about this, for the sat you were working (AO-51) would not these be the proper xmit frequencies?
145.9166
145.9183...
