    Unscientific antenna "tests"

What happens here is increased direct wave propagation due to ducting. I'm on the coast and I work on the coast up the road a ways. When FM broadcast, VHF amateur and TV signals start popping in from New England I start to hear CB signals from NYC and Long Island. This usually is...

WHERE TO SEND AN OLDER AMERITRON FOR REPAIR

Drivers licenses are not issued with the concept of providing a pool of competent drivers and mechanics. Amateur radio licenses are. Amateurs are supposed to be a national resource. Why else would FCC put up with all the extra work? Part 97 : Sec. 97.1 Basis and Purpose...

WHERE TO SEND AN OLDER AMERITRON FOR REPAIR

I don't trust your ability to decide who knows what they are doing and who does not. Anyone want to be the B.S. police on a forum should have the intelligence to watch and wait a little. How about looking at all my posts? Maybe someone used all those lines on you. It's not going to work...

    Unscientific antenna "tests"

Thanks. You're not alone. AND non-skywave CB signals most certainly change strength with weather fronts. Some people will not see this in their neck of the woods. In mine it's a regular occurance.

    That's pretty amusing.

Marconi working his Gain Master again.

Well if you have access to old QSTs read The Spumoni Caper. It's about a bunch of field day antenna installers out in the woods near a lake being used by half naked chicks.

Good read on a Pl-519/EL519 amp build

Maybe someone has published the differences between EL509s. Some of them need a little extra pieces and parts to work on er uh 10 meters. The Svetlana ones are really cute with real transmitting tube glass. Subbing into a dentron GLA-1000 yields a 10 meter dud.

So you don't value technically oriented amateur radio?

WHERE TO SEND AN OLDER AMERITRON FOR REPAIR

Osama probably understands the value of a technically competant pool of radio amateurs.

R U sure all this antenna work isn't an excuse for looking at a hot neighbor over the hedges?

WHERE TO SEND AN OLDER AMERITRON FOR REPAIR

Sorry but when I'm president I will pressure the house and senate to require all radio hobbiests to repair all their equipment. We will send crews out to troublemaker's places and disassemble all their stuff. If they desire to get back on the air the operator will be required to re-assemble...

    Does weather affetc skip?

If one lives near the coast it isn't all that rare.

    Does weather affetc skip?

Why would ducting not work at high HF?

    Does weather affetc skip?

True but imagine the extended shot at the radio horizon. That would give much more of a chance to skywave especially when the band is spotty.

Sirio 5000 mobile antenna wow !!

All I had to do was read this Sirio post and a hot blonde just winked at me.

    Does weather affetc skip?

Extended local CB propagation most certainly does work with large weather fronts here in the NYC area. It follows what happens on V/Uhf. Sometimes I hear mobiles all the way up to Long Island and sometimes Atlantic City from home near Toms River. Most times this stuff cannot be heard...

    Cell tower interference

You're welcome. Always fun to have a good discussion. Audio and video are muxed into the same datastream in DTV. It's a 19.39 megabit-per-second stream. If sub channels or anyhting else is added such as mobile TV some bandwidth must be allocated from the 19.39 max figure. Maybe this shows it...

    Cell tower interference

There are no megawatt DTV stations on VHF. Maybe there should be. Audio is now muxed into the same datastream as video. They both use the same exact bandwidth. Tube front ends usually have a very high dynamic range. Much better than the average solid state cb. Intermodulation of a...

Multi-band Low-pass Filter Kit for unfiltered amps

Nice project. In addition one can pluck bandpass filters from dead transceivers.
