Cophasing 2 x 4 element will give you 2-3 more db gain if they are seperated enough.Stacking is best done up and down.My setup was a maco 4 at 60 feet and a maco 4 at 36 feet on a 72 foot crankup. The best thing that comes out of stacking is a cleaner pattern the top lobe gets knock down lower.
Super bowl is not ruled by Jogunn's antenna's most are Maco flatsides or homemade flatside.Jogunn's are good antenna's but the booms are too short.Gain comes from boom length.Cophase some Maco 4's and you will have some real fun with those expensive aluminum ladder's in the sky!
Thanks for all you help everybody.I found the problem it was the second AM regulator TR42 which is a 2SC945Q.I had already replaced TR41 which is a 2SC1418C. :D
I just installed new finals and a new am regulator. Now I have ssb but no AM tx?Collector voltage on both finals is 13 volt until I key it and the volts disappears?
The goldenrod 45 does respond to hoz. signal.Tested this antenna with 2 locals.1 with a 7 element flat side and the other with a 4 element flat side. Both had a99 to switch to compare vertical side.I was about 15 miles away from both stations.I could talk back to both stations flat side and...
Last night I was talking ssb for about 2 hours and my tx was cutting in and out even when I went over to AM?This morning I checked for loose bad solder joints broken wires etc..... none found.Fired it back up and you can hear audio and the mod meter is working but no output.just wondering if the...

Don't be so sure your safe from road salt.A good friend of mine has a Hi Q screw driver antenna and a sgc amplifier running a icom-7000.Last winter the antenna arc down the side of the coil from the road salt and burned right into the coil housing! The good thing is Hi Q replaced the coil for...
King ,it looks like a keeper.I love my MarkIII.The only other base radio I run is a cobra 2000GTL.Don't ever sell it you will kick yourself.Happy holidays!
The TL-922 will work much better than any amp you are using.Don't try to over drive!3-500z have some nice glass audio if you don't push them.Do not pay attention to getting big peak numbers and you will find out how special these 500z tubes are.
Check Lowe's through the web. Some stores have them some don't.Rohn made them and now channel master took over.Check local tv suppliers there are hd (heavy gage)versions. You can go to channel masters site and see the different versions.
When it comes down to it in the real world. All of these ground planes are real close in gain. You can run a $50.00 ground plane and $450.00 ground plane. You are splitting hairs on gain. Now some are built better but that is about it.Cheerleaders flame on!
Astrobeam element spacing give it a killer backdoor but when you tighten up the back the gain drops.I had one back in the late 70's works real good to knock down locals you don't want to hear.
