yea, it seems like thats steep for a can with a slug in it. it also seems that CB-specific outlets sell higher than something like mouser or a general parts source
have a couple of these chassis rigs that have random intermittent cutting out on TX and it seems like this is the failure point. i guess there is a NOS electronics joint online that has em at 6 and change a pc. emailed to see if i can get a break on that price if i get like 20.
if anyone has a...
ok, so only the zener got taken out. got the resistors correct to switch the 1pill driver on and off, im getting 130 PEP (mfj watts), 60RMS. and i can go as low as about 4W deadkey with the clean swing (see pinned post) and a B bias on the driver to keep er from pinching. the driver does not...
ill bite: i got a ladderline fed 1.25wave non-res doublet, a 4:1 balun, and a tentec 229 tuner. keeping losses between balun and tuner low is paramount. that coax lead through the window should be as short as possible. one of the best antennas I ever built
you should peep the pinned thread about the more involved swing mod using a TIP142 darlington upstream from the mod transformer. standard cap/resistor mods to do this thing square and pinch off a lot quicker and easier on the scope than on later cobras. the 1st radio I tried it on was a zachary...
i have not done the resistor addition, but i get respectable swing from 10W and I set the low power to 3W for now, get around 12 mfj watts from it. my question is if anyone got in there and did something to sample the audio and manipulate the audio drive to full from a low carrier to...
so D17 which is a zener diode, im assuming 9.1v is removed, waiting on some to arrive in the mail, and a board trace between that lead and the diode/rest of the stuff cooked apart like a fuse. i am hoping that reconnecting that, changing the zener will bring everything back up. now we wait
doing a single pill MRF454 on a zach T and i think i just took a bunch of stuff out
to trigger a relay, i tapped off of the JP13/D17 junction, and when messing around with the trigger circuit, i pulled that wire off on the other end. I let it go, and the end of the wire rubbed against an output...
ehh, im just gonna use FETs at this point.
mitsubishi 1969s kick ass and are durable. HGs are a completely different animal. i'd see awesome numbers until :: pop:::
mosfets have proven to be more durable. all day. i've popped 5 1969 HGs so far trying them over the past couple years, theres a few radios out there in the wild that i worked on that also have them, hoping i won't have to see em again.
