for the sh1ts and giggles i picked it off the pile and started messing with it. I was gonna recap and do some hotrod mods and leave it as an ugly ratrod, but after I had a safety meeting with my old man this last weekend, the face/bezel got disassembled, sanded the bubbling chrome off the bezel...
bout to do a mosfet on a 25gtl. just sanded the bezel and hit it with self-etch primer and vht expoxy paint, took magwheel polish to the faceplate to shine it up.
so i find that to do an NPC-RC mod cleanly with a mosfet, i find that biasing is needed. using hard resistors inplace of the...
so we are allowed to tx between 160-190 khz longwave per part15 regs, so i had an idea to get SSB mode capability there, even though the rules state 1W INPUT to the final, and i will pay for the linearity, i'm going for it. a 27.000mhz local oscillator (raltron 4 pin vxco) feeds a SA602 mixer...
the HG 1969s in my experience aint too bad.
those galaxy boards will take a dually mod just fine, you just have to gainmatch the finals and go off of the schematic of a dually rig. is it worth the money/time/hassle? well, depends on your levels of sentimentality of that particular rig, and what...
16v cap at c71 will work. what that cap does is controls the release of the AMC limiter so a smaller value makes it more reactive to the peaks without continuing to clamp down on gain after it passed
when you drop the DK the thermal concerns aren't much of an issue with a FET, even though I run a resistor to the 8vtx line to bias em for a more clean swing. the dk will heat the final up more than anything, and yea, I dont add a mere 10-20 peak watts to just drive an antenna, the reason for...
after using it for a bit, i can say YES BUILD ONE
getting west of the rockies from new england was a challenge before, seemed like people in texas and the midwest were blockin me out when i was tryin to shoot that evening skip. now im right up there with em all for a piece of ladder line and a...
nice, yea i had a similar one, just with 2 1/2 wave legs as a vertical before. def was a good one. that one got replaced by an imax about 20' higher and i really don't notice much difference other than the fact that i can hear a distant electric fence ticker now
so each leg is 5/8~ and the ladder line IS the matcher. about 3/8~ is a 50 ohm point and thats what you trim to get the SWR down before simply feeding it with a 1;1 or coax choke. no tuner needed for just 11m
gave it a whirl flatside from the east coast hoping to net more contacts west of the rockies. the gain and radiation pattern is tight so using a geodesics tool and figuring out what local city i have to go broadside to, I got 2 trees picked out and hucked a nylon rope over the branches about 20'...
I just had the opposite complaint. WHY ARENT radios built like they were in the 70s anymore?
got an untested box of a 07 29LTDNW and a 78 29xlr. you can all probably guess which one worked
i think if you want to do dual final mods, galaxy is the brand you want if you can find one cheap somewhere in the wild. they leave the area wide open. i dont see an easy way to do duals on a 25 unless you are making a stinger
