I got one for all of you smart people out there!

It would have been nice to know that one was bad before you put it in, huh? Glad to hear you got it fixed with only moderate headaches and financial outlay. Is there a test procedure one can do before installation to test finals or drivers? Preferably something that doesn't require...

    Whats The better deal

I voted for the galaxy because, as we say here in the mountains, its purdy.

    Whats The better deal

I'm thinking that it just means you don't have to calibrate the meter before using it to tune your antenna. You will still have to tune your antenna, but you will not have to calibrate the SWR meter before doing so. Usually you would have to calibrate the meter so that it gives you acurate...

    mosfets

Like I said, it isn't my mod, but it was what I found in a search for higher carrier. Thanks for the feedback. Step three is bad then. How about the first two steps? Are they a good way to get the wanted carrier?

    mosfets

My little search came up with this. It is not mine, I haven't tried it, and I can't remember the source, but I would love to hear from someone who has tried it: "I do have some new info for you on the Cobra 29 / Uniden mod. The existing Cobra 29 mod is very popular, but the only complaint I...

GN'R: No Drinking on Stage? No Show!

My sister was hit by a drunk driver, so I don't condone driving under even a slight influence (drunk is too far gone). In this instance, I don't think that them drinking, then getting on their bus (their home for the tour) is a problem. I doubt they drive their own bus.

    New to scanner and Shortwave

Thanks for the manual link for the scanner. They definately seem to be FM stations I'm picking up on the CB band, I can switch over to FM and tune around to find the same song/DJ. They don't come in very well, but do block that section of the band from coming in. I also can't tune in any CB...

    New to scanner and Shortwave

Just picked this scanner (BC 248 CLT) up for $25 and am wondering if there are any mods, or mabey a manual. I also got a Radio Shack SW-100 and a Realistic DX-160 for $15 each. The SW-100 doesn't seem to work right, it picks up some of the stronger FM stations in town even when the SW or CB...

    Coax

It did reach the radio if I ran it down the transmission tunnel, but that was not how I wanted it. I wanted to run it over to and down the side of the car, under the door frame's trim, and then back over to the radio. There wasn't enough for that. I wanted to do that because there is something...

    Fm vs Am

Well CWM, you finally admitted, in a round about way, that it is not like them pulling up your roses (destruction of property) it is more like trespassing. Or as you put it T R E S P A S S I N G. You are still not making a fair comparison, though. Someone taking my car while I'm asleep, come on...

    power line filter

I have been looking at a powerline filter to try and get rid of some noise that I can't locate and get rid of at the source. I found some MTI power line filters at thomas distributing that look pretty good, but I have a question before buying. There are a couple different versions with different...

    Fm vs Am

Now, guys, try to stay calm. Weatherman didn't seem to me like he was trying to justify doing things like transmitting in the 10M spectrum or using "splatter boxes". Especially the part where he said "I'm just looking into different ways to keep the peace between hams and the CB folk". It...

mounting on a full size van

Thanks for the replies, but I need to reiterate that height is an issue, so on the top won't work (unless it were really short, which would end up being useless, right). He is not one of those people who wants to make sure it still fits in his garage or anything silly like that. It is just that...

mounting on a full size van

A friend of mine will soon be ready to get set up for some cb use. He has a full size van (A-Team style) with a huge homemade brush/push bar and all sorts of compartments built into the floor (its pretty neat for a van). Anyway, I told him I would post on here and get opinions on what works and...

Question about final for Dwight D

I heard the ELKs were good to, but ELK says theirs are not exact electrical equivalents to the 1969, just the same pin set up. Would that mean they require a different mod set-up than the 1969? I haven't used them, but I thought it would be worth mentioning. Hopefully someone will chime in and...

    Diesels (continued from antennas)

Sorry, but I'm an engine geek, not a computer nerd. I don't speak you people's language. Why would I want to write that in a private message anyway? I was commenting on something we were talking about in another thread, I was just trying to move the diesel talk out of the antennas section. I'll...

    Diesels (continued from antennas)

Toll Free, I'm glad you brought up alternative engines and diesel. I have a great idea for a two stroke diesel, I just don't have a donor car to put the idea into practice. It would use a Mercedes or VW diesel and would not be inefficient because diesels squirt the fuel in after they compress...

    anyone know what this is????

I like this diesel talk, but lets move it to general discussion section instead of antennas. I'll go there and post.
