    Alinco DX-10

K-po dx5000, Maas, Retevis, theres about 7 names on the same radio. Alinco is the only one wiith people talking about poor receive experience. it would be nice if they had variable nrc like an ares 2, or not quite as much suppression with the nrc. wondering if this was a problem exclusively seen...

Can someone explain why nobody uses upper sideband?

made contact with Florida from Ohio, the person in Florida wouldn't go to USB to get away from the noise. i just thought he was racist against upper sideband. i neglected to account for the signal's rotation

Can someone explain why nobody uses upper sideband?

*i use upper sideband as much as lower sideband. that way my radio doesn't go out of alignment. too much of either could set it off frequency. (jk) *not reliable advice

    S meter modification

k-po dx5000 radio. it has digital boxes for it's S meter. could a replacement "sweep" meter be wired in from an experienced technician? it's my base, so i wouldn't care if it was super glued to the outside of the case. best "throw away radio" i ever used.

NASA , May Solar Storms created new radiation belts.....

they will always be discovering parts of creation that were never previously known. years ago, folks didn't even know there was an atmosphere, let alone ionosphere. same as sprites over thunderstorms.

    11 meter is very quiet?

conditions were weak today in the buckeye, but got 17 contacts yesterday on the stock k-po 5000, all from around 555usb. San Marino to Brazil. best day i have had out of the 2 years i been on ssb. 25w doesn't stand much of a chance on 36-40 with all the people runnin heaters, unless i catch a...

    output power vs current draw

voice can only get 2A, i set the roger beep tone to 10.00, and max time for the r.b. saw the 4A draw. i would have thought voice could have made the same. on the other hand, i do not whistle or yell at my microphone. thank you for solving this curiosity that had been festering a few of us...

k-po dx 5000+ Pyramid ps21kx supply aligned by Scott's Radios was "told" it does just shy of 50w am/fm/ssb draw according to p.s. 8A on FM 4A on AM 2A on ssb -mic gain and power 100% on all modes. -regular contacts made on usb with signal reports of 5x5 to 5x7 -swr under 1.5:1 where i transmit...

    K-PO DX 5000+ Service Menu

Average distance for a Bone Stock 11 Meter SSB radio.

a guy 25 miles away can't hear me on AM, he has 1 to 3 S units from me on ssb. ssb on ground wave should be good for double the distance, pending local interference. elevation also plays a major role.

Lets logically end the LMR-400 debate.

LMR 240/400 for diesel wagon/base, several coats of liquid electric tape over the crimped connectors, never an issue. never more than 50w or 30ft length. buy once, cry once. the mobile applications see over 3,000hrs ( combined ) per year of 70+mph, sun, salt water on rust belt roads, etc. at...
