I do have something goofy going on when receiving LSB. It acts like it is receiving a 3 lb carrier all the time, rest of the modes are fine. I still use it on 38 lsb, been talking on it all day but I am sure I cant hear the weak stations.
I run a FL2100b and it seems to only be doing 300 watts on sideband. When I tune it, the watts are around 500 or more. I use a Dosy meter, kinda hoping the meter is not reading PEP accurately.
Well I own the Old President Washington with the 858 and the newer Uniden Washington both and the receive is much quieter and better sounding on the old style. just sayin.
That what I thought KW4HKY was alluding too. Since I purchased the rig already modified I did not "ruin". And I also mostly talk on SSB and the rig hardly gets warm.
Oh is that what he means? I dont think so either in this case. There is a ceiling fan in the garage running all the time and there is a big open space here. Cigarettes may harm electronics if a smoker is in a closed non ventilated room and being chain smoked directly on but that is not the case...
Yep. Thanks for the welcome, my only other CB buddy and I have been jabbering to one another on that freq. And many of the operators are educating us in triple nickel etiquette.
I have been hanging out in my garage for last couple of days listening to 27.555 for back ground noise. This frequency is crazy. Conditions must be good.
As an ex truckdriver I ran lots of radios and antennas in trucks. Mag mounts wont work if you have an aluminum cab like many trucks these days. Unfortanelety the mirror mounts these days aren't very accessible for decent mounting systems either. Also the coax they use is subpar and the routing...
I also run one of these antennas, they work great but don't buy the push mast they sell. It buckled with light winds shortly after I installed it. The antenna appears to be fine though, luckily nobody was standing under it when it came down.
