    Dead Air

Bummer. You might try making a dipole and hanging it vertically, or use a mag mount antenna on a metal surface to see if you can get better range to your club repeater. Or a j pole! 73, Brett

    yaesu ft-891 and ATAS 120A

Looks pretty straightforward. I may download and try it this weekend if I can find the time! 73, Brett

Tram Corsair 23 Channel AM SSB CB Radio

Pretty cool old rig, and rare, too. 3 wire hookup for the mic, but I would think you can find a way to use what you have. Would be nice to have a factory stocker hand mic, but probably really hard to find one. Good luck with it! 73, Brett

    Dead Air

Always check during drive time... 7-9 am and 5-7 pm. And see if there are any nets listed on club web sites. And Tallman may be right about the digital thing... 73, Brett

Are the upper bands worth looking at?

I think the I think Icom has a model or two that do 1.2 ghz as an option. Seems like the Kenwood TS-2000 did, too. You.might find one o the used market? Love my RSP1, btw! 73, Brett

    Thunderbolt/Firewire and Flex 3000/5000

Thanks for the response! So, your mini has a firewire port, correct? I think the trick is to have a firewire card with a port. I can't add any ports to my laptop, so I would have to get a computer with firewire to make it work. The tech at Flexradio said the cable alone will not make it...

    MARS and CAP Modifications

It's been going on for a long time. I had a friend that bought a 746 Pro about 10 years ago, and HRO did it for him then. Truly not many MARS/CAP guys out there for the number of rigs that are converted. ;) 73, Brett

LOOKY!!! DX Engineering sells RM Italy AMPS

Again, from what I have seen, it is the guys that go portable on a mountaintop with qrp, but have an rv that they get there in. They want a smaller amp for limited space when they are stationary or at the rv park. Other guys get the qrp rig on the cheap, then just want more power. 73, Brett

LOOKY!!! DX Engineering sells RM Italy AMPS

As I mentioned befire, most of the people I have heard are running qrp rigs, and use the RM Italy amp to boost to 100 watts. I have never loaded my AL-80B with 5 watts, so I am not sure what the output would be. I have also heard that a lot of these guys are space limited, so a full size amp...

LOOKY!!! DX Engineering sells RM Italy AMPS

Some of the folks that run low power Flex 1500's and Elecraft K3's use them to get 100 watts out... supposedly they work pretty good when you don't drive them to full output, and it's a heck of a lot cheaper than the alternatives. Seems like there was a guy that had a website where he did a...

Source for LED light ring for controls (aka nitro knobs)

I actually bought some led bulbs from these guys: http://www.centsibleamusements.com/pinball-led-lighting.aspx They have bayonet style led bulbs that are used in a lot of the old HF rigs. Thought they might have something that would work for you. 73, Brett

Source for LED light ring for controls (aka nitro knobs)

Have you tried any of the pinball sites? They have a lot of LED lights, and most are inexpensive. 73, Brett
