if you watch Truck's video, you can see that there is a 2sc2166 driver in that 88.
pretty tell-tale sign that the parts have been on the boards for a long time.

this is the same thing that happened with the Jackson years back right?
some of the boards had mold on them and some green component legs as well.
if these boards were in some shipping container or unconditioned warehouse/storage facility then they are probably very fragile.
these boards were...
well the first question i have is, which SWR are you talking about?
when you add an amp in line after your radio, you actually introduce an additional "load" that is different from the antenna "load".
let's say you have a cobra 29LTD that has a built in SWR meter.
you've checked it against a...
I would just add more diodes in series with D50.
make sure they are all pointed the same way as the stock diode.
each diode you add will lower the voltage to the driver and final by .6 volts.
you'll have to use trial and error to know how many diodes to add.
any 1N400x diode should work...
Brandon if only it were that simple lol.
the first series was crystal controlled and used bipolars for the mixers and push pull pairs for the audio amps.
these are the 21, 25, and 29.
after that came the XLR series that all used the UPD858 PLL, had FET mixers, and were all about the same with...
i used to run a 21GTL for a while and the main difference is that the 25LTD has a noise blanker circuit.
I actually added that circuit to my 21GTL as the board has the holes and silkscreens just not the parts.
the other differences are the RF gain and dimmer switch on the 25.
both models have...
TP8 is the one you're looking for.
its in the PLL section of the radio.
you'll have to set the offset inside the counter so you will need to find the instructions for that. should be easy to find.
You'll notice that the freq will read off by a bit on both USB and LSB and this is just something...
i was listening to some guys in california talking the other day and they said that the 111111 guy is just over the texas border in mexico.
Apparently there are people actively trying to locate him but he's on the other side of the border.
This is just what i heard so i have no idea if it's...
check the "sticky threads" section at the top of this forum, just above where you see your thread posted.
in there you will find links to service info. search around until you find your radio or its equivalent because you need a road map to really do any repair.
without knowing what equipment...
399 out here single handedly bringing back CB radio in Colombia.
It's really good to hear that you are so busy with repair work and even better to hear that there is an actual CB community forming down there!
To answer your question i think shopgoodwill.com always has some old CB radios for...
Here's a little known "secret".
This counter will do 1hz resolution with a 1 second gate time.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/156147111428?mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&siteid=0&campid=5336136228&customid=&toolid=10001&mkevt=1
it will also do .1hz resolution with a 10 second gate time.
yes it's...
Also, Brandon if you're looking for something that you can leave on all the time and is about the most accurate calibration you can get, look into getting a GPSDO.
they can be had for less than 100 dollars on the bay.

i bought one of these years ago:

I checked it against a known calibrated lab counter we had at work and the damn thing was dead on to .1hz.
Ive been using it since...
the mic gain control on a CB radio is not actually a gain control at all.
It's an attenuator.
Mic gain set at max is zero, and you can go down from there.
All radios get aligned with the mic gain at max, so if someone has a radio that sounds like crap with the mic gain turned up, they have...
This video explains a change they made in the malaysian 148's.
the video pretty much explains what they did and how to change it to be the same as the older 148's.
this could be the reason for your audio hum.

Well i guess it's about that time of year to bump this old post back to the top.
Merry Christmas to all forum members and friends!
I believe Santa may have upgraded from a sleigh to a drone.
LC
I saw that he'd moved over to Rumble earlier this year.
However you can see from the videos there that he was making around 5 videos each month.
The last video he made is from about a month ago, and one of the titles is "the last 2000GTL SS".
I did converse with him on his live chat a couple...
