That's weird. 26805 is Band C channel 23 on pretty much all export radios.
On some radios you need to use the +10KHz switch to get to those missing channels.
I use MEM1 on my 5555N2 as a VFO and navigate my way around the band that way. I never ever use channel mode.
My homemade delta loop way outperforms ALL my commercially made verticals on DX and it cost almost nothing to make. Way more fun building your own antennas!
That is an RJ-45 which is used for ethernet, it is NOT a telephone plug. That is the standard now for nearly all VHF and ham mobile gear too.
I usually use the stock mic on my 5555N2. I do sometimes like to run my Turner CS-1 desk mic on it though, so I made an adapter using an ethernet cable...
I always put performance ahead of looks........ but to each their own I guess.
I want my radio to be the best it can be, regardless of how it "looks". To me, this is a hobby where technology and communication are key, not the form factor of the radio.
I don't rely on the notifications. I keep ebay open in a browser tab and every single time I'm anywhere near the computer (which is a lot as I use it for work) I'll do an ebay search for whatever I'm looking for. If I'm working on the computer I'll do it as often as once an hour. Way better...
Why all the excitement over the 5555Plus/N ??
The updated 5555N2 (short case) is a superior radio in almost every respect. Better receive, better noise reduction, more power, CTCSS capability, no mute on scan, etc. etc.
Someone enlighten me please as I don't get the appeal of the Plus or...
Hate to rain on the parade, but that is flat out illegal! Intentionally blocking signals of other radio stations is not permitted, it doesn't matter if it's part of an art instillation or within the walls of a public building. Doesn't matter if it's within part 15 limits, It's still illegal as...
Made the connection, briefly, with 426 Lost Ram. Heard someone else calling my numbers afterward but unable to pull them out of the noise. Lots and lots of Brazilian stations on USB on 40 now. I remember last time we tried this channel I had the same problem......it's quiet in the morning but...
Made contact with three WWDX members at the top of the last hour. 128 Yard Dog, 630 Black Cat and a repeat performance from 898 Doffo. Good conditions with very little QRM on 40USB. I'll be on again at noon PST.
It's been a good DX day so far. I made three WWDX contacts on 16 including talking to 226 no less than three times in one day LOL! And another 10 or 11 contacts on other channels....26.805FM, 27.365 & 445 LSB mostly. Hearing Australia & New Zealand starting to come in now.
Didn't hear any WWDX folks at the top of the last hour. Too many AMers on the channel and now the splatter from 17 is becoming an issue too. I will try once more at 2pm PST.
Conditions are very good today........lots of contacts on other channels. Where are all you WWDX folks?
Made the connection with 226 at the top of last hour, and a repeat performance from 898. Lots and lots of loud AM carriers squealing away which made it a bit challenging. Off to do family stuff now..........I'll try and get on again later.
Great QSO with 898 Doffo from Kansas just now! That Kraco radio sounds amazing my friend! Nice loud audio and bang on frequency. Also heard 226 calling CQ but couldn't make the trip to Texas today. Heard a West Virginia station too.....
Someone is trying to jam the channel with white noise...
Hoping to be on 16LSB tomorrow at 10am, Noon, & 1pm & 2pm PST. And on 40USB Sunday at 10am, 11am, Noon & 1pm.
I have family up visiting but I'm pretty sure I can sneak off to the shop around those times......:sneaky:. Hope to connect with some WWDX members.
After a slow start conditions were pretty decent by late afternoon. Couple Arizona contacts and then a short but clear QSO with 226 Brother DXer! Great to talk to you again my friend.....hope to hear you again tomorrow on 16!
Terrible conditions here today after weeks of great DX. A few powerhouses making it through but that's about it.
Guess that X class solar flare we had recently is making its presence known. Hopefully it picks up again for the weekend, 'cause it's not very good right now.
