Not sure where you got that idea! There are a number of good reasons to use USB, but preserving your radio alignment isn't one of them.....unless you're using an RCI product in which case it will go out of alignment no matter what you do!
I heard you in there on 36 Brother DXer! Along with about a dozen other Texas stations. You were talking to Michigan I believe. I gave a quick call but the channel was super busy so no cigar........
Been on 36 a fair bit lately. 37, 38 and 425 have become ridiculous lately. Now we have a...
So it's not a new radio then is it? It's a re-release of an old radio with a different companies name on the case. Looks like it's been released as a Cobra, Magnum, and about a dozen others already. I'm guessing Qixiang is the manufacturer of all those as well then?
Now that one looks VERY familiar! I remember another radio with that same "eye glasses" type display a couple years back. I think it even had the same layout of controls. Can't for the life of me remember what it was though......
Hope that knee heals up fast there my friend!
A pretty decent DX day up here today...... a few contacts on 26.805FM this morning, and a whole pile of Texas, Oklahoma, and Downunder on 37LSB tonight.......
Well that makes sense considering that there is only a small fraction of the stations on the air that there were in the 1970's thru 1990's !
I remember talking to folks up in Yukon every night in the late1990's on 36LSB....not a single one of those guys is still on the radio today. And that's...
It's supposed to increase average power. It's open to debate whether it's worth the effort. It may increase average power but it also increases intermod distortion which can be detrimental to audio clarity.
I only run SSB and FM, but even if I did run AM I probably wouldn't do an NPC mod as...
I have a little skip here. Conditions aren't great but I hear some stations in Indiana, Tennessee, Ohio etc. on 38 right now........
Do you have a cell tower or some other broadcast facility near your QTH? I wonder if your radios are being de-sensitized by blanketing interference? Just a...
There's a few of us around LOL! There's a Sean in Scotland that I've talked to a few times over the years, and I've heard and talked to others as well. Not such an unusual name......
There are a couple other 23's out there on 11 meters too. There's an especially bodacious sounding 23 in...
Wasn't me on 27.400. I wasn't on the radio yesterday at all due to work commitments. When I have been on I've mostly been alternating between 27.555USB and 26.805FM.
This problem also sounds an awful lot like what happens when the amp goes into self-oscillation when keyed up. Could also be generating harmonics which are throwing off the SWR. Could even be a combination of those two things. I missed what kind of amp it is....... there are fixes involving...
Lots of action on 26.805FM today! It was hopping last winter and spring but really died out over the summer with the weaker conditions. However, I made lots of contacts on there this afternoon!
I'm super happy there's still folks down there, I've had a lot of fun on that channel the last...
Made contact this morning with a place I've never made it to before. Had a nice QSO with Roy, 104CI101, on the island of Corsica in the Mediterranean Sea!
I recently re-orientated my delta loop to better favor Europe and Asia / South Pacific and it seems to be paying off.
27.580USB @ 150 watts.
We are at the peak of the 11 year solar cycle right now, so stations from all around the world are booming in. Peaks of the cycle always coincide with an increase in interest from folks. In five years from now there will be only local activity and there will be tons and tons of used radios for...
Europe still making it to the west coast today, but not as strong as the previous few days. I had to work all day anyways, so just had the radio in the background a bit.
I did have Japan coming through really strong on 555 this evening and afterward I dropped down to channel 4, the Japanese...
The original 111111 guy was (and is) in the Phoenix area of Arizona. That guy has spawned numerous copycat 111111 stations all over North America, including in Texas and the midwest.
The last couple days I've heard two different 1111111 guys, plus the crying baby, sirens galore, Fox news for...
