I GOT ONE OF THESE UNIDEN 980 FOR THE MOBILE, OUT OF THE BOX IT RUNS 6 WATTS ON AM, NO BIG DEAL ON AM, BUT ON SSB IT RUNS ABOUT THE SAME, IS RT203 THE ALC???

IT DID CLOSE DOWN FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS MAYBE A QUICK OPENING A MONTH OR TWO AND THAT WAS IT.
BETTER build some antennas for 80 and 160, 40 usually gets bad to but still has openings. I have been hearing a number of SOUTH AMERICA ON JT65 ON 80METERS lately.

I use signal link, right out of the box. If I were you I would send a e-mail to signal link and ask if they WILL work on your radio, they are a good company to deal with...

You have to really program it, for the frequencies in your area, doing it by hand is a mess.
You need a programming cable and then you can program it through the computer look for CHIRP it is free.

Get a kl203p, I have ONE used it for a couple of years 80 to 100 watts on am/ssb feeding it with my GALAXY at 1 1/2 watts, cost around $70 dollars from H&Y

I us a KL203P get at h&Y , around $70 dollars drive it at 1 1/2 watts have done for years, works great on am and ssb, don't over drive it, and no complaints.
