a strange thing happened i clamped the neg to the volt meter to the chassis and noticed the rec increased. When i touched the pos probe from the volt meter to v302 pin2 it shocked the receive into working again it faded out after awhile again so i shocked it again into working i dont understand...
The Tram was working great for a few hours. then when i unkeyed the microphone the receive was gone. I turned it off for awhile and turned it back on and it was receiving again, for about 4 minutes, then it fades away. I read that if you spray air on the board it may cool the bad part to...
i think the two tubes may be compatible, i checked the tubes on my tube tester they checked to be okay im still not sure what caused the receive to be weak in the first place but i think the tube was weak. I cleaned the pins and contacts with electronics cleaner, right now im really happy to be...
i think i found the problem i bought a set of tubes for the tram when i purchased it the box for the v302 tube said 6bk7b. But the tube inside the box was a 6bq7a. so i put the right tube 6bk7b in the radio and now it receives much better.
I have no receive on am, in crystal, or manual the ssb has a little bit of gain in xtal ,and manual mode. transmit seems okay. I have swapped out r319, and r320, twice. Both times they did not reducing the voltage to pin 6. I am really confused.
Lowering the input from 3 watts to 2 1/2 watts made a big difference to the ssb delay. It is working much better now. The output is a little less but its handling the ssb much better.
I re-read this post the amp. bias is something i need to get a better understanding of. i have been doing alot of reading on radio stuff lately, so it sometimes gets to be a bit confusing when you get older. im propably not going to change the capacitance of the 470uf 16v. i do not want to do...
I am very intrigued by this external relay. but i have the replacment relay i ordered, and it is working great. Unfortunately the ssb is still clicking too soon at about 200watts. it swings about 250 on ssb. to increase capacitance, i found a 1000uf 16v cap. and a 2200uf 16v cap. im wondering...
Im looking at the varmint xl600 relay but i cannot read the info on the relay does anyone know the relay part number and description for the xl600 relay. Thanks
i found a relay that is the same as the Demon one but its for ac current. if i buy this for about $14.00 and transplant the relay contacts would that work to repair the worn out contacts
i think i may have been miss read. the middle tune knob is the one that runs out of adjustment the load knob is peaking okay. there are 3 knobs on the front and three adjustments in side one is next to a tube and two are next to the coax hookups. The front knobs are left to right, load, tune and...
i fiddled with the relay and got it working again. the ssb still clicks off and on at about 200watts so ill have to keep the modulation up. i have 1 more of the can capacitor to replace. i wonder if this ssb delay is normal for the demon 250
Now no output. i turned it on and let it warm up switched the standby off and back on then i keyed up and the demon has no power out. the relay works, the ssb delay works the pre amp receive works, but now its dead i do not know where to start. im really frustrated.
I Also noticed some of the adjustments do not seem to be working very well. I sprayed the tube and relay sockets and used emery cloth on both of the relays contacts and inside the nobs. the top relay is pitted really bad i was able to clean it with emery cloth. I noticed the middle tune nob does...
My demon 250, unkeys too soon on ssb with the ssb delay on. I replaced all but one of the blue can capacitors. It should be here by friday. Im wondering where is the ssb delay capacitor, and what should i change the value to. so i can increase the delay. Thanks.
