The lsb output swings about 8watts, on usb its about 13watts. am keys up at 3 1/2 and swings to about 5watts. after i whistle into the mic a few times, the am dead key sometimes rises to about 4.2watts i am really baffled.
Thatts very interesting, as they say on laugh in. I will do some swapping around. I also noticed when i put my hand on the top of the radio or plug in and touch the d104 the static quiets down and the meter goes down. its doing it in am and ssb.
I noticed on ssb receive that i am getting what sounds like feedback i can hear myself tapping on the receive board and the bal mod. board it is the loudest when i tap v502, and t502. I have replaced the r520 recently when the ssb receive quit and got it running again. I swapped out tubes, no...
I adjusted t700 and c706 again. and was able to get almost 4watts am and a good 10w lsb. usb, swings about 14watts. readjusting the alc downward helped. i use a linear and when the tram in place of my cobra 148gtl. hooked up as a base. The linear will not stay keyed on ssb when i speak, it...
Thanks guys, It looks like The five capacitors are newer ones. one of them the c211 is a 100uf 100v, instead of a 100uf 25v . Im going to check them to make sure they are okay. Im ordering some 33 ohm 1/4w resistors for r251 and maybe a 180pf/sm. cap. for c242. im going to check it. I am also...
I know the tram D201 is not the best ssb radio, but i like the radio and im hard headed so I jumped the small power resistor.to see if that helped ssb it increased am but the ssb was the same about 10watts swing lsb. I would like to get about a 15-20watt swing.
Im trying to track down the low output problem on am/lsb I noticed the c711 was set so it looked like a circle instead of a slice of pie like the other radios from the inside. i checked c711 and from L700 to the 3 pin on the final tube i get 3.7 ohms. The other tram measured 37.6ohms. from L700...
Thanks for the great idea nomadradio. The output is a little low on this refurbished tram so I checked the bias. it was set really low -.43v and -.47vam the bias was turned almost all the way down. The output was a little less than 4watts am and about 10 watts lsb. The usb was swinging over 12...
Thanks KneeBiter it looks like most of the resistors and capacitors have been replaced. but I noticed that the R426 resistor is red-red-brown-gold 220 ohm. 1/2w .from looking at my other trams and The schematic it should be a 220k ohm 1/4w. red-red-yellow-gold . would that 220 ohm even work in...
It worked. The R520 was the receive problem on ssb. I was pushing the old resistor thru the hole in the trace, when i lifted the iron the trace stuck to my soldering iron and lifted from the board. it gave me a heart attack. I was able to coax everthing back in place and soldered the resistor in .
I removed the ground i had clipped from the radio chassis to the vfo ground and got 3watts am from 1 1/2watts. ssb is the same 2watts i tuned c711 and c712 again. still low output
i connected a siltronix 90-3 vfo. to Tram #1 i removed the ch23 crystal, and soldered the center of the cable to the bottom (power side) of the channel 23 socket and grounded it away from the socket.Going through the vfo on ch23 I tuned c711 and c712. On am it is getting 1 1/2 watts and a...
