I agree, and if the buyer is gun-shy about installing the fan kit, ask the Radio Shop to install the fan kit when they convert and tune the radio to the 11 meter band.

Removing labels and installing accessories into a new radio can be intimidating. Purchasing a new radio and the fan kit from a Radio Shop and have the shop install the fans would relieve the stress and concern about warranty issues.

Sounds like a logical explanation. Unlocking the clarifier is sort of a "trick of the trade" to attempt to compensate for drifting and off-frequency? I like my original, factory set 2002 Grant XL and my new, factory set 955HPC+. Just "plug and play"!
