It isn't legal in the US, as I previously mentioned in the first post in this thread. However, there is more to this world than the US. I was speaking globally. The FCC has no say on what the rest of the world is doing on those freqs.
Ops from all over the world use these digi modes on these...
Your right. 27.500mhz is for digi modes that don't exceed 250hz bandwidth. 27.700 is for digi modes using more than 250hz... like sstv.
Of course, 27.500mhz isn't "respected" by many ssb ops. I've monitored digi there while having ssb ops just blast the psk31 sigs away. The psk31 sigs are...
Oh, I'm sure there are as many reasons as there are ops that don't wish to. One of those reasons could be that some folks don't feel that they should have to ask permission to do something that should be a right instead of a "privilege".
Pretty funny Ratso!
Actually, most of the 11 meter ops around the world are actually quite civilized and conduct themselves in a professional manner. :)
14MIT02 is a very interesting person in the "radio world", professionally speaking. You can read about him on the 'net.
Watching the "waterfall" on the sdr...
Seeing 14MIT02 (France) calling CQ on the mini digi band on 11 meters with psk31 ... 27.500mhz. This frequency is set aside worldwide for digi-modes. I've seen Olivia and psk31 on it when the band is open.
Just a "heads-up" if you wish to watch the...
"If there was real freedom in this country the people would take care of that assclown".
Good observation. The "public" isn't allowed to take care of public problems.
I'm using a software defined radio (sdr). It's a "computer radio". You can "see" the band while you are listening to it. It has a spectrum analyzer on the screen. You can see every signal on the band in real time... and the effect one bad transmitter has on the frequencies above and below where...
Yep, most likely was the same guy.
On my end, I don't need to assume or guess. I can watch the entire CB spectrum in real time... below and above chan 6 while I listen to his transmission as he's keyed up. Signals just as strong as his don't have the trashing effect on the spectrum that he does...
Good to have someone else verify the problem. Yes, this is not an issue of high power, overmodulation, or hi-fi. This is the "spraying" of RF well outside normal limits with really bad equipment.
I would doubt that this op has an understanding about class C amps or parasitic oscillations, nor cares, but I don't think he wants the attention of someone with technical knowledge to single him out... like the FCC might. I have no interest in pursuing this with "authorities", and won't.
I am...
Repeating...
I'm not against high power, loud modulation... whatever. I see lots of high power stations on the spectrum analyzer and know how to interpret what I see. Most likely this stations equipment has a serious problem and is affecting the many others that use this spectrum.
It's getting tiresome having the spectrum trashed by one station whenever the skip is in from approximately 26.850 to 27.150khz. I'm using an SDR to monitor the band and can "see" that "766" in Mississippi on channel 6 is literally trashing the spectrum with an extremely "dirty" station. I'm not...
Well that mystery is solved... thanks Captain!
Ok on the callsign correction. Guess my ears need re-calibrating.
Was wrong about the "survivalist" scenario too, (but that would have made for a more interesting story than the reality).
Yep, I could sure use that antenna system in my...
I thought "pirate" station at first, but I don't think it was. It wasn't a broadcast, nor was it any sort of "show", the message was simply audio looped and had no entertainment value.
7.555khz isn't really a pirate freq. If you want to be heard as a pirate, you wouldn't pick some obscure freq...
Caught a strange transmission on 7.555 khz tonight at 0229z. First a childs voice then a womans voice repeating the same thing:
This is KJEF radio station broadcasting from the Lord's Ranch USA 88072.
I caught the end of the broadcast. I don't know how long the station was transmitting before...
I did go with an sdr... the Elad FDM-S2... and I'm not disappointed that I chose the sdr route over a traditional "box". Man, is the sdr versatile! So many advantages over the standard box. The software filters are amazing. They actually work against noise!
Broadwing...
You have two excellent...
I'm still going the SDR route instead of the R75, but I changed my mind on which sdr. I bought the Elad FDM-S2 instead of the one I had previously mentioned. Should arrive in a couple of days. I guess I'll use the packaged software until I get used to how things work, then give other recommended...
