Hey gang, so I just got this cobra 29 wx st and noticed that it’s been peaked. Looking in the radio I seen this: D11-cut L14 slug- removed R55-cut R100- cut and a diode added. Does anyone know what this mod is called and if there’s other parts That may have been change, added or removed. Thanks

Andy, yes. So the setup involved is a Cobra 29 Ltd chrome. Wired straight to the battery. And a Wilson 5000. There seems to be engine noise that goes up when the rpms increase. I’ve been checking around and it seems it could be a ground issue but I’m not totally sure.

Hello gang, So I’ve been seeing this mod done on some radios. A Cap connected to the positive and negative of the DC input jack. So my questions are, how much noise does it filter out and what is the value of the Cap? Will it filter out engine noise? Or is that a grounding issue? Sorry, still...

Hello, The Cobra 29 Ltd st TX alignment procedure, step 2 is asking for TX mode 80% modulation My audio generators don’t have a % output adjustment. How would I measure this? I have the sencore cb42 and a B&K 1040 that I’m using. Thanks

LOL.... I know right. The radio is in rough shape. That’s the only reason why I’m using them to learn. Would never try these mods on good radios.

Just a little update. Did the swing kit Mod on the cobra 29 Ltd classic. Got my dead key down to 2 watts swinging 5 on avg. swings to 16 pep. S-meter shows swing also. Sounds OK on dummy radio but not to nice on the scope. But it was to be expected. Thanks again everyone for your help and...

Hey Mike, you mentioned dual final radios. Could it be done to a single final radio? Like the cobra 29ltd Classic? I have an extra one that I could try it on. It might help me understand the process a little better.

Thanks Mike. Got the generator and scope and now slowly getting the knowledge from you fine folks. I really appreciate it. Does the NPC mod also affect the radios meters swing? Or just on the external meter?
