Although a J Pole offers a cheap alternative... a J pole offers very low gain. and is pretty narrow banded I would go discone before Jpole.... consider a comet GP 3 or equiv for instance,,, dual band ground plane offers dual band and over twice the gain of the Jpole on 440 is about 60-90...
