So I went up the ladder and put the Palomar common mode choke at the feed of my antenna. But I can't really get any results because of all the skip rolling. Maybe when I get up early in the morning it will be quiet and I can get a s reading to find out if it helped the noise floor.

So if i replace the cap and that takes care if amp does any of u guys know which pot turns down the deadkey on the uniden 980? So i can prevent this from happening again? And is there a seperate pot for sideband?

After about 6 months my kl203p stopped working. Removed cover and found c14 capicitor blown. Can someone tell me what this cap does and why it blew? I was going to do that tonight but there was so much skip coming in there was no way I could have got a clean channel to see if the noise level changed. Next time we get a quiet day I will climb up on the ladder and do that.

Antenna feedpoint is approx 18 feet from ground. Probably a few inches from the eve on 2 of the 3 radials. 3rd radial sticks straight out away from eve. Shop is all wood with regular shingles but where antenna mount bracket is screwed against eve is on aluminum flashing.

When i unscrew coax from radio and leave center conductor inserted into radio a little bit i still have good receive but noise floor drops 4 s levels. So i installed a palomar common mode choke at the radio. It didnt help noise floor any. Still same noise floor as before when cmc wasnt there

Hi there I have a sirio gpe 27 5/8 wave aluminum antennna on 11 meters. Was curious what would happen if i removed the 3 radial rods from the base? Mainly looking to lower noise floor. Any thoughts or experience is greatly appreciated!
