I wonder why someone hasn't picked up the design / patent for the old Tweety Bird units ? They were simple worked pretty well & back during the 70's & EARLY 80's .ALL the big time operators had to have one .
Thanks DTB , & Thanks LORDS,
I just wanted to make sure I was reading the SWR warning correctly( BTW, I guess the metal garage door proved the point) If the SWR is flashing/blinking ....You got problems ! This is NOT where I normally set up antennas LOL
I am using a Wilson 5000 mag mount Spiderman. I have a SWR of only 1.2 (it can go as high as 1.4 ) , I thought I would probably be OK but, as I travel up & down the road of course, I have temporary moments of high SWR I guess. Times when there are...
I have a couple of quick questions on the S3.
# 1- What is the best power setting if using the Topgun modulator? Or does it matter when it is turned on ?
# 2- What does this SWR warning light mean , I know the Mags are sensitive to high SWR but, I...
THanks for the link TN HILLBILLY !!
KOBG's site is very educational , well written & UNDERSTANDABLE for an old CB'er like me . He has certainly put a lot of work into it . I think I'll shoot him an e-mail to express my gratitude, and thanks to you...
Oh Come on guys , give me more credit than that ! I re-calibrate the meter with EVERY SWR check . And it is still in the red, not as high as when measured behind the Boomer. But, still in the red. Any ideas ?? I have considered trying a new different...
I heard that Happy Hamer & CW Morse ! Without a doubt a good Ham amp is better built , I guess I shouldn't have put my meter on it . How does that old saying go ....what we don't know..............
Thanks everyone for all the responses, truthfully I agree w/ you on the Boomer they do not compare with my Messenger or Texas Stars for sure . But, as Switchkit said : it was dirt cheep & better thAN NUTHIN'! (BTW Switchkit , Your avatars with the...
I am picking this up from an old posting but, I have an old '95 chevy & have wanted to mount my radio from the roof too . Wonder where I can get a couple of those 5" magnets?
Thanks for clearing that up DTB ! Hope to get up your way sometime & meet you. This forum (Worldwide) is definitely the MOST informative I have ever used. I am just a radio operator , not a tech for sure but, I am definitely learning. Thanks to all.
Thanks for the responses guys, I will check the SWR between the amp & radio tonight. It's has been a pretty good amp , nothing special but it gets out rather nicely. I will post back tomorrow; what kind of SWR reading would be considered OK ??
my experience with Al has been exceptional ! And I have nothing but the utmost respect for DTB ! I consider it very helpful to have these guys helping a "hired hand" like me out . IMO DTB, AL @ Sparky's & Bob Fitz are very helpful and some of the...
Hooked up a radio to a boomer 600 , amp off SWR 1.25 , with amp on SWR is showing RED zone . But, reports are coming back good & distance has not been compromised. What say guys??
Is it very difficult to adjust the presets on one of these echo boards ? I have one with a very delayed response that has NO external controls. I would like to reset it. Everything is inside the radio, looks like it wouldn't be very tough to do.
Hey librium,
My 440 is not noisy either. I have been really pleased with mine. I use only good techs though, anything past trouble shooting antennas, etc. is out of my league. But, I KNOW A GOOD SOUNDING RADIO WHEN I HEAR ONE !
