Alright I posted a while ago about my madison not working. I have since picked up a cheap workman mic. Now that i have done this the relay clicks. So i switched to LSB and noticed rf needle does try to move when i talk or wistle into the mic (the needle is semi stuck) When i move to am and do...
I cut them, They are about 3-4 feet. Just long enough that i can open the gate all the way and not have them tight.
I am going to try it without them in a few mins just to see if they are even needed or it it was antenna lenght the whole time. I may be able to add a disconnect but i can't...
I'm just trying to get the SWR the best i can as i eventually plan on putting a small booster on it and i don't want to fry it from a poor swr.
I'll pick up a 6" spring and see if that helps, it can't hurt. I pulled the spring over and the center wire looks pretty corrodid, that may not be...
Ok, just got a brainstorm. I noticed the total lenght on that pdf was like 109". I got to thinking so i pulled my antenna and measured it, its 107" my spring is just a tad over 4" aren't they supposed to be 6"
So i rigged a extention onto the top of the antenna from a steel clothes hanger. I...
Just checked with the meter. Set on the 200 ohm scale from the screw part of the coax connecter on the cb side (cb unhooked) to the latch on the drivers side door frame i'm getting a reading of .2
I have a base at the house, i'm still tweaking the antenna for it, but its right around 1.3-1.5.
I'll get the meter out and see what if i can find between the chassis and the tire carrier.
my bumper is mostly plastic, i don't know if there is any steel under the plastic
I had the spare tire holder off and never saw a rubber insulator. But the contact points are painted. However i have the 2 ground wires running from the base of the stud to the body of the jeep, so that should have the mount grounded.
Edit: I also even took a jumper cable off the base of the...
So you think i should either mount it on the roof (which will put it too high) Or just go with a shorter base loaded, top loaded, or mid loaded shorter antenna?
I grounded the wheel mount to the inside of the swing gate latch, on the jeep side not on the door side. So it should be grounded to the body, chassis of the jeep. Minus the doors and hood since i don't have ground straps on them.
I just checked with the same antenna on my truck. 2.1 on ch1...
Alright heres the story. I pulled the 102 and the spring off of my trucks ball mount on the fender to try on my jeep. I drilled a hole into the spare tire carrier and got a heavy duty stud. I intstalled the whip. I was having way over 3+ swr's so i cut a set of old cheesy jumper cables down...
ALright, i have been looking around and all of the Diamond antennas and such from what i have seen have unusable SWR's on the MURS freq's. I have a baofeng uv-5r and would like to upgrade the antenna. I would like to use it to comonucite from an ultralight, to the ground. To me either by...
Ok, I figured thats was the way i needed to adjust was shorter. I know with smaller whips on the wilsons and such they suggest 1/4" adjustments at a time. Is that still the same on a antenna this long? Or should i start shortening it by 1/2" or more at a time between readings?
I think i got the connection issue fixed. Where the wire comes off the coil and connects to the bottom of the antenna itself the connection screw was full of corrosion and loose. I sanded both the copper and the aluminum of the ant. and put a new screw in.
I had to leghthen every section of...
The plasic cover that is supposed to be red was faded white and had some pretty big cracks in it that i never noticed. It also was holding moisture inside that. Thats all the farther i have made it so far. Working on it as i type.
