    BJ200 watt Linear help

Looking to get some information on this linear. I have two of them in front of me. One of them literally caught on fire the very first time it was used. The other can only be used at literally 1 watt input into it otherwise the transistor heats up so hot you can watch the solder start to flow on...

    Help Identifying Transistor

Weird that these are the same Transistors used in this BJ200w Linear amps and being advertised for 2-30mhz use. The other radios I have are PSX SE with a GE Electrics symbol. Says Mobile Communications on front. No model Number but I see a N5P10 above the serial number and then it says general...

    Help Identifying Transistor

They were VHF radios from my understanding. The 10 Base stations that have the M1104 chip I am looking for information on are Mitrek and Model number on back is T83JJA3900BK.

    Help Identifying Transistor

I acquired a huge lot of radios from a school district that was completely redoing their entire communications system. About 30 of the radios have these two Transistors in them: http://prntscr.com/4kennw And I have 10 base stations that have these in them: http://prntscr.com/4keor5 I...

    Which Radio to Mod Next?

Robb, The spare 148gtl was originally a bit outta whack after attempting to hook up a frequency counter. I fixed that problem and then had it running fine. A short time later a friend of mine wanted to see how the channel kit (Digimax Lite) was set up inside it and got a case of slippery...

    Which Radio to Mod Next?

Having just successfully modded a Galaxy DX-959 Mosfet Version with dual Final IRF520s....channel kit..upgraded Votalge regulator and AM Amplifier...opened clarifier...swing mod, I am now having to decide which of my radios to Mod next. Galaxy DX949 Mosfet Version. Already has Blue Viagra-B...

    Galaxy Dx-959 No Am Modulation/power/transmit

Exit, by modifying the AM pass regulator circuit would simply upgrading the Voltage regulator at Q55 be sufficient? I did change it from a 2SB827 to a 817 and also upgraded Q54 from the stock 1869 to a 2SA1012-0. It was my understanding these mods would beef up the ability of the radio to handle...

    Galaxy Dx-959 No Am Modulation/power/transmit

Ok. Perhaps I will have to take a look at the audio section when doing my 949 this evening. Id really like to get the most out of this radio. Robb, I tried following ExitThirteens post on my OLD 148 that has now turned into a parts radio since my acquisition of a new working one. Perhaps there...

    Galaxy Dx-959 No Am Modulation/power/transmit

I must say though.....I was honestly expecting to see higher numbers then I did with this mod. While I had no plans on leaving the radio "way up", I wanted to see what it was actually capable of with the dual finals and expected to see in the 50-60 watt range.

    Galaxy Dx-959 No Am Modulation/power/transmit

I honestly think i got a REALLY good batch of IRF520s. My DX949 blew its Final and Driver over the winter due to accidental keying up and modulation without antenna hooked up. I ordered a batch of IRF520s and ever since have been running the Dx949 with them at 4.0 with absolutely no problems at...

    Galaxy Dx-959 No Am Modulation/power/transmit

I wish I had a digital wattmeter or something which read numbers better. Im using a Yaesu YS-60. Its great for showing between 1-20 on the 20w setting...but as soon as ya flip it to the 200w setting it becomes really hard to tell exact numbers. However, I have gotten it to peak over the line...

    Galaxy Dx-959 No Am Modulation/power/transmit

Robb, I honestly feel bad that I didnt keep track so that anyone with this problem could look there as well :( . Since getting it running last night I did the whole Dual Final mod ( 3 IRF 520s now) and a couple other small things. I am currently fitting it for a heatsink and fan mount. Ive done...

    Galaxy Dx-959 No Am Modulation/power/transmit

Ok so all the replacement parts came in today. I have a 2sb817 in at Q54 and used a 2SA1012 at Q54. Now voltages are reading: Q54: B:13.03 C:.06 E:13.54 Q55: B: 12.92 C: .06 E: 13.04 With new Q54 and Q55 I still have TX and Recieve on USB and LSB at normal wattages measured by a Yaesu...

    Oscilloscope testing help.

Well, this got out of hand quick. Truth be told the fact is I have only figured out a handful of things about this Scope. Im most concerned though with my Transmit and making sure it is leaving my radio in a good and clean fashion. Im still trying to find the correct settings to monitor that...

Antenna Theory. Questions involving dual antennas!

Alright everyone I honestly really appreciate all the input. Ive done a ton of reading here today on theories involving the placement of antenna and everything ive seen says that I am harming my right and left signal while creating somewhat of a directional focus to the front and back. I can see...

Antenna Theory. Questions involving dual antennas!

haha yea me and some locals were just talking about that on 38lsb. Relatively easy to set up mobile but no where near as easy when running big antennas on base station. Hey a guy can wish right!

Antenna Theory. Questions involving dual antennas!

Thanks alot Molecule. I believe I actually have a couple year old PDF version of the book you are talking about saved on my work computer. Perhaps I will need to take a browse through that section! For me I just keep trying to think of ways to make bigger and better contacts ( in before "get...

Antenna Theory. Questions involving dual antennas!

I understand the BASICS....and the horizontal and vertical are separated by 50 ft or more....I know that I cant have them on the same pole running together...i get that. Im wondering about from a distance.
