This is Not a CB amplifier..... And cannot be modified to operate on CB band...... I'm talking amateur (Ham) radio equipment / amplifiers..... You'll never get a quality new solid state HF LDMOS amplifier for under $1,000.... But they do have in development, a smaller 500 watts or so amplifier...

The Mercury amplifiers , Mercury llls & Mercury LUX, have been upgraded with a new LDMOS..... Lower drive for the same or more output. With my new LUX, I have to keep the drive level to no more than 10 ~12 watts to keep from over driving the amplifier over FLL...... The latest Mercury amplifiers...

Yes, but it was a specific batch of fake Toshiba 2879's........ They had a manufacturer code stamped on them of " 6J " ....... Don't know where they came from...... In my experience with them, they were more robust, performed better, and internally constructed much better than the HG...

Although, I believe that a good layer of coax self vulcanizing sealant tape, covered with a layer of sun resistant 3M tape is better....... And easier to remove when required for whatever reason.....

Captain, I agree 100% with the way you are describing to use it.......You are covering and protecting the connector first..... My comment is meant for those that would just smear and coat the outside with silicone sealant...... Not a good way at all, and lazy and cheap......

Much better ways than that...... In my opinion, that is a lazy, cheap way that will not last, and not good for the connectors.......

Well, all that may be well and dandy, but I am one that does not desire to have to use an external computer in order to use my transceiver, at all ....... As posted above, ensure the antenna system is installed correctly and trace down the interference...... Just sayin' ........
